      chris
      Hi Chris
It works like a spring loaded syringe……push the plunger in and it should lock. Melt the solder to be removed with the soldering iron. While the solder is still molten, hold the tip of the desolderer in contact and push the black button on the side. The plunger springs back and sucks away the molten solder…..it’s like having a syring that you can operate with one hand.

        Hi Allen
White metal figures are still popular in gaming circles because they enable a much wider range of figures to be available. The whole production process, from sculpting to moulding, is cheaper and simpler than injection moulding. It allows a company to produce a far wider range of figures than the costs involved with injection moulding would allow. Resin figures are not really robust enough to replace metal in the smaller sizes, so that material has not completely supplanted metal. Companies like Perry miniatures and Foundry make literally thousands of figure types. The moulding costs would be completely prescriptive if they tried to do this in plastic……however, I think younger sculptors will work exclusively in the digital realm and the whole will be eventually replaced with 3D printed models……

Thanks for the info Tim and I can see the point to that. I guess I'm still thinking of years ago when most figures were made in white metal/ lead such as IR, Old Guard, Valiant and Cavalier miniatures. I also keep forgetting that your gaming figures are mostly 28mm in size and trying to mold them in plastic or resin would be very cost prohibitive. Learn something new everyday here and I do hope you had a good time at the show. Ours have all been cancelled until (maybe) next year.

I used to love playing with one of those from my father’s tools when I was a child. Having it pop up when I pressed the button was somehow very cool

Nice haul Tim! I'm surprised that metal cast figures are still so popular. You should be quite busy for a while there Sir......

Nice buy Chris and a great price too. Who makes it if I may ask?????

Me, I've been a good boy lately and only got stupid one time. Snagged this from evilbay to go along with the 2 kits of the single Bailey that I have in the stash. Now I can almost cross the Rhine river...........

Says on the box Tim TOOL ZONE. When I was looking they all seemed to be the same photo, so just another name on a mass produced item.

Well,i`ve wanted one of these for simply YEARS:astonished:!
However, all of them were absolutely way above what i was prepared to pay ..... usually about £90 plus:cold-sweat:.....so i kinda gave up......
                                ....... BUT,recently i decided that i love `em so much,i just HAD to get one :money-face:....
SO,i lowered my sights,(or more importantly,my financial hit!!:tears-of-joy,and went for a smaller scale, non "Airfix" kit......
.... Read varying reviews from "Awful" to "Great kit",ranging between 1 to 4.5 out of 5!!:fearful: .... Being that i just wanted to build one,(and only doing it as an aside to my usual passion, which is WW2,and Vietnam War,Armour),i only went and bought one didn`t i:nerd:.........
