Fortunately, it's one of the almost non-existent perks of working for the NHS that the pension is pretty hefty. Working four years at my level effectively equals the state pension. Hopefully I'll have 25-30 years under my belt when the day comes. (Also, all my poker winnings go into savings.)

I don't really wish the days away, I enjoy my life, but if I'm ever in a position to be able to afford early retirement, I'm going to do it! I have many plans...

Every year our local paper runs a Fantasy Formula 1 competition, (you pick a team of drivers and score points on a different basis to actual F1), the entry proceeds go to a local charity.

My wife, brother-in-law, daughter and I take part each year, in addition to the official entry fee we put a fiver each in a pot - the winner out of the four of us takes the pot.

This year I won (hooray) so I decided to buy an F1 related model, this iconic car:

I have never built an F1 car so this should be a challenge. Any hints and tips will be welcome when I start the tread in the New Year.

talking of the New Year - have great, and safe New Year's Eve celebrations.

Wow Peter,That looks a beast and a half.I seem to remember in 70s trying to make a Matchbox racing car.No doubt smeared to the high heavens with tube glue.
                  Good luck with this beastie,
                  Richard
