Crew? Crew for what? Armed Crop Harvesting?

On the ICM Facebook page, renders of an upcoming unusual subject, in 1/35.
Laffly V15T - French Artillery tractor - I believe there was a resin model made of this in 1/35, but certainly this will be the first injection moulded version. ICM seem determined to be the leader in softskin models!

Ah you poor poor unusual subject starved large scalers you've come in second again to the tru-scalers we've had a injection moulded version for absolutely ages, check out ace models all yours for under twelve squids. Dave
Please for the more delicate though true the above statement is meant to be toung in cheek. So no need to contact points of view.

Hi Dave. As I understand it, they are a way to stop the truck jamming on uneven ground when going cross country. A bit like the trench skids on some early WW1 tanks. Imagine going across rough ground, if the front whee drop into a hollow the nose could remain stuck on the higher ground, holding the front wheels off the ground and stopping traction. The trainer wheels allow the truck to still move when pulled or pushed by the back wheels…

Wouldn't these be more useful if they were actually sitting in the helicopter?

The ones on the Laffly? To prevent it nosing into the ground in rough terrain.

Yes Dave it would be the ideal place for them but for dio makers its easier not to make a flying Huey.

Cheers,

Plus they didn't wear the cool Air Cavalry hats in the cockpit.

I bet there's a Go 244 in the pipeline as well, & wasn't the Heinkel HeIII 'Zwilling' used as the towplane? ( also modelled by ICM )

Now we need that in 1:35 … if Bronco can do a Horsa in that scale, ICM can surely do a big German glider as the counterpart? Think of the diorama potential

Were Go 242s ever used in air assaults? I know they were use as transports, but actual action?

I have no idea, to be honest But it’s a troop carrier, so there’d be a lot of potential to surround it with figures climbing aboard, preparing kit, etc.

There's a bit of the framework of one plus that of a DFS230 at the memorial to the battle of Vercors in France.

Nick.

I read somewhere they were deployed to North Africa for cargo missions, but no word as to assaults.

I'm not sure if this will help and shed any light on this wingy thing...

Page details technical specifications, development, and operational history of the Gotha Go.242 Military Transport Glider Aircraft including pictures.
