Nigel's Workbench Competetion (With A Difference)

Right Folks You Have 14 Days to post up a picture of your modelling bench / room etc and the winner will be able to donate a Paasche Vlr jnr double action airbrush to a modeller who has fallen on hard times . So not only have you got to post a pic you also have to recommend a reciepient for the prize!!!! Now I know im predisposing but as im the one donating i think i would like John, Bunkerbarge, Wonwinglo and Adzam to judge (if thats ok guys)

The Airbrush is used but still gives good service a 1/16" of a line is no probs with enamels!!! so closing date is 6 nov !!!!!

(if this post is in any way against forum rules or against protocal please delete) cheers :goodluck:

First of all I don't have a problem with anyone who wants to hold a little competetion, but myself or the anyone releated to the forum can not be held responsible for it in any way, this is solely down to Nigel.D, that said thanks for the offer I'm just a little confused with it, so you are saying people can enter the competion but if they win they have to donate an airbrush?

Yep they have to donate it to a modeller who is having hard times > i thought it was a bit less selfish to win something for another person

Please dont hold anyone responsible but me! I want to give something back to the modelling community. A lot of people are working and have decent standards of living. They can afford to buy bits and bobs! This gives people a chance to do some good in the modelling comunity they win not for themselves but for a fellow modeller who due to circumstances is finding that modelling is a bit low in the financial priorities at the moment. If you want john il send you the airbrush and you can hold it to make sure all is above board. I know people may take advantage but maybe i can or we can make someone have a better month than they would have !!!!!

I think I am with you. You mean the one with the best modelling bench wins the Air Brush but they have to then give it away to a more worthy cause?

Nigel, I've got to say "where on earth do you get your ideas from!!?"

By the way I must mention in reply to your point the other day about encouraging youngsters. Last Sunday at the pond two young lads of about 7-8 were watching very closely my boat doing its thing and were obviously interested in the lights, smoke etc. So in thought, What the hell, they can't do much harm in the middle and I can have the controller off them long before they hit something so I told them what did what and let them both have a go.

The looks on thier faces well was worth it and I am sure they will remember that for a long time to come. I am not so sure that mother was equally positive after I mentioned what these things cost to put together! I was nice to put a bit of something back into the hobby though and I enjoyed watching them.

Anyway I guess I will have to have a look for some pictures of my modelling bench now. What is it being judged on, size, cleanliness, standard of equipment, quantity of accumulated crap!!?

Nigel your heart is in the right place, and once more we must be psychic as I was thinking of a similar thing to your 'What, where, who are you success..' something on the lines of show us your workbench, snippets of my bench have appeared in previous tutorials so I had better show a full view soon,I just love seeing other modellers workbenches, the more untidy the better so you had better not clear up out there ! we know when the debris has been shifted,go for it,it sounds great.

                          Bench work

Hello all, Nigel D, what a strange idea you've come up with. My workbench as you can see in the attached photo is nowhere near big enough for tackling the current build of a tug. This will eventually turn out to be 42"x14" x7" hull with a 12" high superstructure plus masts etc. Based in a standard 8'x6' shed with only a 20" deep bench full of clutter.... well you know how it goes you spend all of the time creatiing and never enough tidying :sobbing: If it weren't for it being such a horrible night up here I'd have got some modelling in tonight :music: with a bit of Virgin Radio thrown in for good measure. Anyway to the post of the picture

                          cheers

                          Jim

                            Positive Waves

Hello all, my crack at the "positive waves" line from the film is "Kelly's Heroes from 1970 I think.

                            cheers
