Another one of my favourites there Paul, Oh, what a lovely war. The final scene with the crosses, shot on the South Downs, is pure genius.

Sam Pekinpah production if I recall Dave........that caused me to think of The Eagle Has Landed.......another great war movie from the '70s

“Heartbreak Ridge” is my top Clint Eastwood War Movie. My oldest Daughter likes the movie “Major Payne” starring Damon Wayans.

One of the best words ever from Heartbreak Ridge was cluster*uck which I use on several occasions at work lol

Joining the party very late....

Some of these I have picked not because they are great films per se but because of memories associated with them........in particular watching them with my dad a s a child. I was only in my very early 20s when he died at the age of 50.

My favourite 5,in no particular order....
"Light up the sky".... An unusual insight into a fairly forgotten about group of people...... A cast including Ian Carmichael,Benny Hill, Johnny Briggs and Tommy Steele.... And it's SERIOUS!!
"Enemy at the gates", largely because of the opening half an hour!!
"The Battle of Britain",Edward Fox,Ian Mcshane.... Etc,I just LOVE the flying sequences .... "DACKA DACKA DACKA"!!
"Assembly" a bit obscure one about a band of Chinese 139th liberation army fending off hoardes of the National Revolutionary Army in 1948,it IS subtitled,but I definitely recommend it
And finally.....
...... "Apocalypse Now".... Loadsa reasons,but main one.... I just LOVE Hueys!!

As Tim says but with one little thing. I could not get into BoB - Pacific as much as i did the first ETO series. I just couldn't connect with the characters as much.
