    Thinking about it, there's a common sort of theme here.

    Dune
    Starship Troopers
    Day of the Triffids
    War of the Worlds (the original)
    Fantastic Voyage
    The Time Machine

    and many others.... All good, solid Sci Fi stories with lots of ideas and themes butchered by the film industry.

    Yet we've had:

    Jurassic Park (et al)
    I, Robot
    Bicentennial Man
    Good Omens
    Lord of the Rings (et al)

    OK. I know some are fantasy not Sci Fi but they were both lumped together with horror at various times.

    ... all of which have kept some original ideas without totally descending into B-movie horror themes or strictly CGI spectacles.

        Interesting that you have LoTR there Dave. Great film series….mind you, “The Hobbit“ descended into bloody awful quite quickly…..…..and it was by the same Director!

            I will agree with you on most of those butchered as films, but I thought the Lord of The Rings Trilogy were well done generally, the Hobbit films on the other hand……

              HI DAVE well i just got my books that i reordered an they are them fantastic soryline NO.1 ICEFIRE an NO .2 VORTEX so im lookin forward to havin a good read in between havin a rest from my tiger have you oredered them yet ?

                I bought five of the suggested books - inc. Icefire but not Vortex. I'll get through those first then have a look for the rest.

                  OK Dave an i think you will enjoy ICEFIRE as its a crackin story an i could not put this down once i got into it so ENJOY but get vortex if you can as another great read
