Your Favorite 1/76 1/72 Airfix Boxart

Lately I’ve been hung up on some 1/76 1/72 Airfix kits I’m planning to build. I’ve always liked the Airfix models and some of there Box Art is beautiful. So let’s see your Box Art it can be anything for Sea to Air and as many as you like but try to post the Model Box you own. I’ll post mine later.

I have owned all of these in the past, but don’t have any in the stash now. Hope this is therefore acceptable…all are by Roy Cross, and all out of the golden era, by the way…..

Thanks for kicking us off Tim. Those are some beauties I like the Lancaster out of the group very nice. Roy Cross art work was amazing and just the box art alone sold many kits. I know I’ve bought some just because of the Art Work I have to admit

        Cool idea Lee,

I only have 2 original boxes from back in the day. The kits are long gone and I don't know why I still have them. I also don't know who the artist could be, but here they are,

I loved building these back in the day (when I could see them) and here is something I didn't know either,

The store could pop out the tab and hang them on a peg on the wall. The Panzer IV was only $1,29 when it first came out too.........

        Prost

I have a slim book that highlights the amazing work of the late Roy Cross - very evocative! (Edit: Remember the Bristol Bloodhound artwork?)

I used to have that one many years ago, had a Land Rover as the towing vehicle.

                        Hi guys

A few years ago Hornby sold off all of their original artwork on the Vectis auction site, I was fortunate enough to pick these up at a reasonable price, two by roy Cross and one by Roy Hunt:

It seems crazy that they sold off their archive, but they did. Occasionally Vectis have the odd picture, but most have been sold.

Steve - I was very lucky, I just came across the auction site by chance, unfortunately towards the end of the period when they were selong their artwork, and most had already been sold.

they were selling everything: finished works which were used for box art; finished paintings which were not used; artist's proofs; even drawings and sketches of early, unused designs; and drawings and sketches of the finished designs. They seems to have had a total clear out.

Wow….just fantastic Peter. You are a really lucky beggar, and I’m really glad they’ve gone to someone that appreciates them….always loved the triplane…..
As an aside though, I thought a lot of the Roy Cross originals had been lost?
