I didn't leave the Shuttleworth Collection empty-handed; they have a book sale table when you can pay what you think items are worth, that have either been donated or sometimes (rarely) withdrawn from their own library:

The Lancaster profile because I have several Lancaster kits I'll build one day, and the Gipsy maintenance handbook because it's a rarity, being even older than me!

Hi JR, black, as Paul said is the most common....have also seen them in dark green and also a deep maroon was very popular as well.

              Hi all

So another example of great members sharing!!! Our very own Peter Gillson bought some mounting needles (links) and Tuesday evening he offered to send me some when I said I liked the look of them. I sent him my address that evening and they arrived this morning, with a little size guide and a rather good quality envelope to boot!!

              Thanks again Peter, much appreciated.

              Andrew

Very nice Andrew, the way other members help out with each other on here is great .
I've had quite a few items sent over the years .Peter Gillson once sent me some resin manhole and drain covers.

Gotten this 70s comic from my uncle when he was cleaning up an old cabinet. The cover says it was published in 1976.
Fantastic pen rendering, hand-drawn planes and figures, convincingly done in black and white.
I suppose there weren't much reference/research material when the artist(s) was at his drawing table then.

Hats off to the artist(s) for doing such a great job.

Nice find Hong. The Brits have a long history for that sort of publication.
A few years ago I went to a talk given by a long term editor of Commando magazine, a similar publication. How these magazines were put together was very interesting. Apparently the artist got a written synopsis of the story and then drew the pictures to illustrate it.
Most of the artists were Italian, and based in Italy, so the occasional language misunderstanding occurred. International postage and communications were not what they are today and there wasn’t time or money to have anything redrawn. When the illustrations were received and checked, any bad anomalies found were covered with the speech bubbles

You're worrying me with all this floaty stuff you are buying. Something on your shoe skipper?
