I was really impressed with Hubert Meyer's book about the 12.SS.Pz.Div in Normandy and i've wanted to know what they did after Falaise. I did some searching around and have found Hubert Meyer has done a follow up book (Vol 2) from Falaise onwards until the end of the war. It has very good reviews so i have gone ahead and purchased it. It shall also help me decide what kits to buy for my upcoming Ardennes dio as well.
I shall do a review of it once read.

Had a bit of a modelling windfall today,
An old army friend cleared out his uncle's house after he'd died and found the following, he passed them on to me with wishes that i do whatever i want with them..
I'm a bit unsure what to do,
I'm not a big figure painter.. and will probably end up selling them off and using the cash generated to purchase stuff i'll use on my current builds.. (not sure on prices though).
I'll probably have a crack at the Achilles...(still not sure though),
1/35 Accurate armour (k27) Achilles iic Tank destroyer ...(full kit)
1/72 Airfix Short Stirling B.I/ III 1:72 Scale 1981 box Series 6 906002

Heh, I have that one in the stash, purchased a year or two (I think) ago for less than a plastic kit of the same vehicle sets you back. Still not sure if I’ll build it or leave it in its box for historic/collector reasons, though.Comment

For my next model, when the French Sd.Kfz. 251 is finished (construction-wide, anyway), I need some reasonably major bits from a Leopard 2. After an attempt to get hold of somebody’s leftover or partly built kit failed, I decided to buy the cheapest one I could find:

Plus some other bits I need or that will prove useful in general. The bottle of glue (blue cap) may surprise those who’ve read about how I make my own, but it’s really there for the bottle … the brush in the one I’ve been using is knackeredAlso some primer-with-the-stupid-name, because I decided to give it a try plus same-brand cleaner to hopefully get it out of my airbrush again — and, because I saw it on the web site I ordered this stuff and wanted to try it, also this thing:

A glass file … I had never heard of such a thing existing, but why not see how well it works? Here’s a close-up that I hope shows the back of it reasonably well:

Keep in mind the whole thing is about 9 cm long …Comment

The glass nail file was first patented in Switzerland over 50 years ago. Most are made with Czech glass that’s been tempered and is therefore uniquely wear-resistant. That means you can file and file and file and the abrasiveness will stay just as strong. Normally used to file nails ( human :smiling3: ) Let us know how it fairs please.

I have no idea. Could well be that one said to the other, “How about selling tools from one of us in the other’s packaging?”
The glass nail file was first patented in Switzerland over 50 years ago.The box does say to only use it on plastic, and specifically warns not to use it on metal because that will wear it down quickly.
