I don’t like them either, but must admit that the sheer variety of morphology and species is fascinating. Not all of them scare me….but some do.
I’ve seen horseshoe crabs at aquariums, and they all absolutely terrify me……damn big (up to a meter long) living fossil arachnids that live in water…yeuch…like a coffee table but with more legs.
Glad we never lived in the time of their sisters the sea scorpions though. They got to 2.5 metres long.……Argh…….run away…….very quickly.

Hi Chris, the first photo , unfortunately on its side but it's the top left .The house spider 2nd photo no 31 is the one most people fear . One night years ago Christine was watching TV and I was out, when she felt something on her leg. As she looked down a very large House Spider came up on to her dress. As you can imagine panic broke out , the dog ate her sandwich and she screamed. Next door neighbour heard and came round to see what was wrong . He caught the spider in a glass, put a piece of card over the top so they could look at it ( silly idea ) The spider took a run up the glass, knocked off the card and disappeared . When I came home there was a note saying " find the spider before you come to bed " Needless to say I tried and couldn't see it anywhere. About a week later I pulled the cord to open our bedroom curtains and in-between the folds it sat ! A superb specimen. I picked it up and took it down stairs only to be told " take it down to the rugby pitch, and not in our garden ! Never seen one as big since but love them. I had loads in the workshop and they would appear covered in saw dust when we cleaned up .
      Sleep well !

It be a spider and it will get ya and you will become a zombie...okay, probably not. All I know it is a Arachnid, I see many in my work shed and they look at me with menace and steal all my model parts.

I worked in West Africa for twenty years. I used to have gecko's walking around on the walls indoors, which I used to tolerate as they caught all sorts of insects etc.
My first night over there I woke up in the morning jumped out of bed and grabbed the curtains to allow daylight in. In jerking the curtains something hit my arm, I had obviously disturbed a gecko and it fell onto my arm. That woke me up rather fast.
