Well that was a crap day!

I’ve been a little dizzy and breathless recently, especially when initially standing up, but put it down to my recent Covid vaccination. Turns out I was very wrong. Went out for a short walk around Sherborne on Saturday, and really struggled to get back to the car. Good job herself was driving.……felt better when I got home, just a bit tired. I’ve got BP measurement kit, and when we tested mine the readings were not quite right, but not wildly out. As I am due my GP annual review on Monday I thought I’d just leave it until then and bring it up with the GP. Anyway, overnight things deteriorated markedly and I developed significant pain in my left calf muscles. I couldn’t leave it like that, so today I spent all morning and half the afternoon in Yeovil A and E. Well, after an ECG, full blood sets, chest X-ray and thorough examination later It turns out I have a blood clot that is restricting my blood flow…..now I’m on blood thinners and back in tomorrow for chest MRI scan and probably a knee MRI scan as well…..once they know the extent of the problem the way forward will be decided.
I will say now that Yeovil A and E was absolutely faultless throughout. I was booked in and triaged in A and E minutes. I was then passed on to the correct department for the initial ECG and BP tests etc less than 15 minutes after arrival. Each stage proceeded in a timely manner as previous test results became available and throughout I was kept fully and clearly informed. Even though they were obviously very busy everything was carried out calmly and professionally with no fuss or drama.
Superb service and well worth me shouting it out. To say I was impressed is an understatement.

Cheers Pete. I‘ve not been right for ages, but this issue was masked by others I think. Not after sympathy though, I just thought good service was worth the recognition.

Hi Tim, sorry to read your message.

At least you were well looked after by the staff, and they are on the right track to sort your
        out and hopefully quickly.

Wishing you all the best Tim. I hope everything gets sorted out. So nice to hear about an A&E dept doing well, makes a change from the constant "failures" which the press so gleefully report.

Good to hear Tim, hopefully you will be treated the same tomorrow. The staff at the hospital julie had her radiotherapy were excellent, kind, thoughtful and above all made her laugh, had to do at the time I know.

Yep, nothing sells news like misery does it Jim If a hospital is overloaded to the point of faliure, it isn’t the hospital that’s failing! Doesn’t get reported that way though does it.
