Dave, I think I was a little cryptic or using out of fashion words: nighthawks are (or were) supposed to be those persons hanging about bars till late night (in the pic a famous painting by Hopper named "Nighthawks).

Space invaders: I hated the soundtrack of that video game :dizzy:

That was the nickname of the the BLU-82, which was developed as a successor to the M121 that’s in the kit. Not sure it was dropped from the CH-54 as well, but it certainly was from the C-130 Hercules.

The CH-54 was used in the beginning but proved to costly and to slow and due to it low range inefficient. The task was given to C-130 .
The blast from this 4500kg bomb could clear an area 60m which was not really that large an area taking the size of the bomb.

'Nighthawks' is also a term in the UK for illegal metal detectorists, who dig things up without the landowners permission & sell them. - I always wonder where all those Roman Coins on Ebay came from ( to be fair quite a lot are PAS registered )

All these road signs coming out - getting as bad as Milton Keynes and its round-a-bouts.....

As an MK resident I take exception to that scurrilous allegation......oh wait.... It's true...DAMN. :smiling2:

Apparently over 500 excluding painted mini roundabouts.

In all seriousness though, the roundabouts were only ever meant to be temporary.

The idea was that there would be traffic lights at each junction but they ran out of money for all the work that would require. So, as roundabouts don't cost a lot and they had the land and a lot of it, they did that instead.

Also 1/3 of MK is designated parkland

Will work in the Sydney suburbs...lots of roundabouts there. There's even a set of rules to negotiate these roundabouts.:smiling6:
