Interestingly my Lidl weren't marking them down..... But still only £6.99 for a Spitfire is a bargain!

Remember a sad say at RAF Ouston in Northumberland when I was at School. Quite a few Gnats scattered around. We were just about the enter a hangar for a closer look when our visit was halted as a MB seat had gone off and fatally injured someone.

I preferred the Gnat to the current ride the Red Arrows have!!
The Gnat had a bespoke lightweight ejector seat - not a Martin-Baker product. It was based on a SAAB original. The tiny Gnat couldn't carry a 'proper' service seat. The Gnat was too small - it couldn't carry enough fuel, it was very cramped for pilots, it was difficult to service, with all the parts shoehorned in, and most importantly, couldn't be upgraded with modern avionics - only in service from 1962-78 - hence the replacement by the Hawk, in 1975 & still in service!

Hahaha, I fell for the trap of assuming it was a Martin Baker seat!! I was a mere 13/14 when we visited. Never worked on any fixed wing outside of training!!

Good evening chaps and so my official birthday arrivals from the kids and my wife.

There is though still one gift outstanding, as I'm waiting on a new Takom kit that was due for release a week or so ago but is obviously a bit late.

The kids got me the book on China (a podcast recommendation), the 410 (I had to have one as soon as I saw it!!) and of course, most importantly, the Hotel Chocolate Chocolate Macaroons!!

The book was a present from my wife.

I came across it when researching my Jagdpanthers but it's not normally the sort of book I go for and besides most places want over £100 for it second hand....FAR too expensive for my taste. I did though find it for well under £100 on Oxfam's online store but still too pricey for my taste. However, just before my birthday I checked it again and they were doing 40% off on second hand books for Black Friday, making it an ok price for a birthday present!

Bob - the joists in the loft seem to be holding up ok.....but fortunately I think they're actually over a supporting wall!!

Aldi ITA answered! Very politely they pointed out that mine was a very interesting suggestion but, at the moment, no items of that kind are scheduled on their current plans but maybe in the future.
I read it as a very soft way of saying "no, thanks", but I appreciate they answered.

That's a shame! Send them one email a month and wear them down!!

I have this and the Lidl corded one, they are excellent for the price! Three and a bit years old and mine are still going strong.

Every day you got the chance to win the day's prize by clicking on a wheel of fortune that pops up on their homepage; if you win and you like the day's prize, you can get it for free placing an order for at least 25 €.
Last Friday I won and the prize was the drill set; the two stencils, which I had been lurking for but were always "out of stock" are the items I bought to get the prize.
                      I think it's a good marketing initiative.:money-face:

Just arrived . An early birthday present (3 days before Xmas) and Christmas gift to myself. The lighting kit comes with a 23 page manual so I will have to practice my soldering and drag/relearn my electronics knowledge out of the deeper recesses of my diminishing memory or via the net. Should be fun but will only start after completing the Saturn V.

                            Stefan
