I have had the pleasure of walking the decks of BB 63....She was tied up in San Francisco when I lived in the Bay area. Took the Missus and kids for a tour. Too bad they wouldn't allow folks below deck.... I would have loved to seen the engine room.

Two different 747 pilots told me Kai Tak was their favourite airport to land at. Flying down the main street looking up at women hanging out the washing on their balconies was a little disconcerting for passengers though.

Obviously as it was one of the pleasures of treating a 747 like a fighter bomber...you make a bomb run towards a chequer board on a hill facing, at the precise distance you make a hard right with all flaps down and before you can straighten out your right rear wheels touch the runway.
I happened to observe two landings while walking from the plane to the terminal and broke into a cold sweat when I heard over the loud speakers that there would be a delay as the second plane had punctured its tyres...in those days they didn't have passenger chute walkers to disembark so you had the smells, winds and noise experience.

        Cheers,

As some of you may be aware :rolling: I love an Ebay bargain, and this must rate as one of the best yet ( apart from the 3D printer )

The auction for this was finishing at 12:20 on Friday - at 09:00 the top bid was £9.99, so I thought it was worth a punt & put a maximum bid of £15.57. Didn't think anything more until 12:30 - an email - You've won! - Price £10.49 - total £13.84 delivered! When it arrived I had to check that everything was there - it was!, the only sign of it being pre-owned was the instructions had been opened. The only downside I noticed was it smells musty as hell! ( The decals are still sealed in their plastic bag ).
          That's really cheered me up!!!

Now this one wasn't STRICTLY my fault ...
.. I wasn't going to buy ANY more kits for a while,(unless a 1/48 Specat Jag turned up!),...
... HOWEVER , when I first tried my hand in aircraft builds,I did the Arado ... Loved the look of it,and thoroughly enjoyed it/ wanted another!! ..
.. Binned it though, because 1/72 doesn't interest me at all.
. .... BUT, just happened apon this tonight in 1/48... HAPPY DAYS ...

Wabble The frightening bit must have been the turn as the plane came in, the next was stopping before you ended up in the sea . It did happen once I can remember.

I saw a YouTube Video of how to use a 3D pen, and it struck me this this may be used to add small details - I was thinking on waves, or ripples on a seascape - it only cost me just over £11, I have a load of spare filament from my printer, and I thought why not? It's more sophisticated than I thought, it has a tiny LCD screen to adjust temperatures & materials, and a speed slider to control the flow. The YouTubers made it look easy, I guess I'll find out soon enough!
