One of my favourite shops, Axminster Tools & Machinery, is closing their local branch in Nuneaton and having a sale - everything 20% off, including some stuff that's already discounted. I picked up a couple of cans of airbrush cleaner and this:

Should make sanding a little less arduous.

Yes, that catalogue was my Xmas wishlist for years. I bought a belt and disc sander from their shop in Axminster High Street in about 1990. A real rabbit warren of a shop, seemed to go on behind three other shops each side, and out into some outhouses as well.
A great shame they're closing the branch, not only for those of us who loved to shop there, but also for the staff, all of whom are over 50 (a long way over in some cases) and with not many local opportunities.

Hmmmm, "what's that?" I hear you say....
.... anyone remember that IKEA cabinet, with the 3glass shelves, I perloined a while back? Questions were asked in the house,(no,not That one!!),If you could get extra shelves.I rang our local store, but they said "no"
However,a dabble on Etsy and I found a seller :smiling3:, not glass, but extremely good, clear, and perfectly cut toughened perspex. So, £75 for the initial unit,£45 for the extra 4 shelves and you end up with this...
8 platforms in total (including the base),spaced out at the moment, but as it fills, the smaller planes will easily fit 2 per shelf:thumb2:.
All in all I'm quite pleased :smiling3:Comment

Well I've been and gone and done it. These detail parts have just arrived for my 1/700 Airfix Titanic (same as Academy) kit proposed build. Have feeling I may have bitten off more than I can chew with my first ever floaty thing build. Still to sort out lighting, including navigation lights and some sort of rigging material - any suggestions as to what sort of "wire" to get for the rigging would be greatly appreciated.
By the way the IKEA cabinet is ideal to showcase our creations - mine is only quarter used at the moment.Attached FilesComment

You are not kidding Andy and most is really small and looks fragile. Never used PE before so alot of reading required especially when to fit things like the railings, pre paint or fix then paint, fit the wooden decking after replacing all the ladders or before. This is going to be a looong build and I can see loads of questions for the assembled collective.Comment
