This should be the last for the foreseeable future, I hope …

I needed paint, chiefly for the railway crossing and some in general, and the Simca caught my fancy to build as a civilian car so I added it to the shopping basket. And then, of course, the store I bought it from did its usual thing (well, both times I’ve ordered something there): “All of it’s in stock except the car, we will order it and should have it in a few days” almost two weeks ago …

That’s most of a Tamiya 105 mm M4A3 kit, except for the whole of the turret, several resin sets from Formations and Armoured Brigade Models (both defunct, AFAIK) and Blast, including a full set of roadwheels, two sets of idlers, various detail accessories like headlight guards, five track skids, an Asuka .50-calibre machine gun, a resin upper hull, two turrets, and not one, not two, but three turned aluminium 105 mm howitzer barrels from different brands … plus assorted other bits and pieces. Oh, and instructions for some but not all of these, and by the looks of it also for some things not actually included :smiling3:
Looks a great coup Jakko. Some great stuff to do some Sherman magic with.

Watch a fire power exercise at the ranges when a complete battery all fired together at one target . Probably why I'm hard of hearing now .

We could remove the engine pack in about an HR , a great vehicle.
Like you I am sure I am slightly deaf in my left ear from driving the 432.

That's how my M-109 looked before I sorted out what was useable and what to bin. I still have a couple of the Sherman turrets and the tools somewhere stored away. I am sure the turrets/hulls were to replace the Italeri offerings way back in time.

Heard that one before and used it as an excuse, but then the hand was just uncontrolable as it headed for the credit card....

That was my idea too. I’ve been slowly sorting through it to see how many complete sets I actually have, and that’s harder than it looks I have enough to build a complete 105 mm turret, at least, even if that set is missing a few parts for which it had options (it should have two gun mantlets, but I only have one, for example — enough to actually build it, anyway). The M4 upper hull doesn’t seem to be complete, but I do have all kinds of detail bits that will come in handy for various Shermans.

I think you misunderstood what I meant I was mildly complaining about the shop: the Simca showed as available/in stock on their site, but when I ordered it, I was told it wasn’t so they had to back-order it — leaving me to wait almost two weeks for the paint to use on the railway crossing, when I could have had it in two days.

The box is in a poor condition, a lot of parts off the sprue, the decals look a bit iffy - but all the bits are there! One of those Ebay cheeky bids that actually worked - £10.19 delivered - a result I'd say....................

I thought, “£10.19 seems a bit expensive for an old, worn kit.” But then I noticed it’s 1:32 scale

My interest in figures has gone to new heights, bought some resin from FOG Models as the detailing in far better than plastic. Excluding Hornet heads of course.

Although most of the Stalingrad range are naturally unavailable but they had these in stock.

Will use them for practice, as haven't a diorama in mind . Can strip the paint if not happy.:smiling3:

It was only a tiddler, so 1/32 makes it a reasonable size - around 300mm wingspan it's hardly a state of the art model, but looks the part

I have no doubt that he may well be more perceptive than I am What I meant, though, is that the price seemed to be for a much smaller model.
