Shelf’s from B&Q and the desk came from Argos, I’ve had it over 20 years, it’s solid, if I was to buy it today it would cost 3 times more and the wood would be 3 times thinner

I was lucky enough to find a great compromise on that. As an architectural model maker I had a job I loved every day. The subject matter didn't interest me at all although the making side of things was brilliant. So making figures in my spare time didn't seem like a continuation of work. But when I was a commercial sculptor for a while, that totally killed it!
Loving the man cave John, best of luck with it!

I love my job too, but I'm always amazed when people routinely suggest I turn a pastime I love into a moneymaking enterprise - like, why?!

I've had it suggested re. veggie cooking, gardening and various sorts of modelmaking. I can't think of a quicker way to destroy the enjoyment of a hobby than that. I'm impressed that John has found a route back in, mind.

And the maths never seems to add up for me anyway - tons of work, loads of overheads and no-one prepared to pay the small fortune required to make it profitable. It's (usually) a completely daft proposition.

Very nice John but, we will only accept it as a modelling room when you have paint, glue and bits of model kit all over the table or, in my case, normally stuck to my arms or face...it has happened.

Most of it is still in boxes, Ive still got another couple of Hobbyzone modules do build but they are taking longer than they should do, they’ve changed them and now all the bit are stuck together with tabs like sprues, but they need cutting off and sanding.

Decorator is coming this weekend and the other rooms should be done by the end of the month, only then can I relax and start building something

                    Don't you think that's a bit optimistic

I don't so much have a 'man cave' as opposed to a 'man corner' in our kitchen.....

                          So very jealous indeed John!!

Mine does - double edged weapon though as I lose some wall space for bookshelves, display shelves etc but gain natural light and ventilation! Will have to take a leaf from John's book and build an extension to the MC :smiling: !
