It was just a matter of time until ...

Have you found over the last few years that young folk are really struggling with day-to-day tasks because they're trying to do them one-handed? That's because they are physically incapable of putting down their mobile phones.

I saw the most ridiculous cure for that affliction earlier today. It had to happen I suppose, but I saw a young lad wearing his mobile on a wristband like a watch!!

Not only that, but he'd got it oriented at right angles to his arm! It was laughable to watch him trying to put two items through his till without banging the thing on the till, the counter, his other arm and the display items on the counter.

    Made my day!

Isn't that old school? I thought they all had chips implanted in their heads now and didn't need mobiles.

Sorry Dave, but the implants supposedly added to the Covid vaccines were just a mady-uppy story!

A few months ago I was witness to a very upsetting event involving a mobile phone. Walking ahead of me was a young lady holding her phone in one hand and pushing her toddler in his pushchair with the other. She was holding a conversation with someone. Because she had only one hand on the pushchair she had poor control, the front wheel of the pushchair went off the kerb and the pushchair toppled over into the road. Luckily the driver of the approaching car was driving slowly and had quick reactions. It must have really frightened him though. The lady quickly righted the pushchair, the child seemed unfazed by the whole event, and continued on her journey.
Now believe it or not but she carried on as before, pushing her child with one hand and the phone held to her ear with the other.

I have seen young mothers stop at the kerb, with their pushchair actually IN the road, while they continue their mobile 'conversation'. Would they even notice if a car swept their kid away?

Ooh, this has all gone a bit dark

That’s not just the phone generation. When I was a little kid there was a public information short cartoon on TV with a mother pushing a pram into all sorts of risky situations. It ended with the baby saying “this is where I get out and walk” after the latest near miss. It was also extremely common for woman to leave the pram and baby outside on the pavement while they went in shopping.
Can’t just tar the newest generation with similar careless acts that our own mothers were also guilty of

Very much so. Did you know Charlie was voiced by Kenny Everett?

Me too! He taught me how to reverse park - which is why the kerb outside my house is covered in tyre marks!

I remember the one about the dangers of water. A creepy voice and a bloke in a long black cloak. Children falling into ponds and rivers left right and centre.
It was Jimmy Saville who did the seat belt one, Clunk, click, every trip.
