That is an amazing length of service Andrea, well done Sir, and congratulations on your retirement.
Now enjoy that retirement like a lot of us do.
    All of the very best

Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

        Congratulations on your retirement...

Now I bet you think you are going to live the life of luxury, laying in bed to all hours of the day, coffee served in bed, morning 'muchamucha' HA! you can forget all that. Have you seen the list she has had hidden for months, all the work, visiting here and there, sitting listening to the relatives drone on and on about who has died and who is playing with who, while you day dream of that latest model calling you to the bench........
Seriously, enjoy it, I am now in a routine of domestic work first and then in the afternoon it is my time - oh! and the relatives have lost interest in me since the free booze and duty free ciggies dried up.

Forty years, wowsers, that is quite some time but if you enjoy the work it flies past. Like all service and ex service folk of any nationality, I bet there a few good camp fire stories. I wrote all mine down so that when I get totally ga-ga I'll know what I got up to!!!
All the best, now, boots off, and enjoy the future. You deserve it.
Keep it hidden, if SWMBO gets a look at it, you will need more than a nursing home.... :smiling:

Thank you to everybody for the congrats, the warm welcome into the "6 Saturdays 1 Sunday" Club and, above all, for all the tips and advices about the differences between the retirement life one usually dreams of and the actual one. :rolling: :smiling:
About SWMBO's list... after a long process of furnishing, decorating and personalizing our new home and garden, I perfectly know that thrill down the spine when she, completely out of the blue and possibly early in the morning when a normal man's reactions are seldom those of a creature at the top of the food chain, exclaims "I've just come up with an idea..." :surprised::astonished::anguished::tongue-out3:

I encourage my wife to sleep in to avoid such unpleasantness.
