Looks like the odds are most definitely in your favour. I hope you get a date soon as waiting is just stressful. All the best Dave.

Had a call from the surgeon this morning - offering me a date of Wed. 2nd October! I had to say that was too soon, I've various things to sort out before I have the op. She said, probably the 9th or 16th then, she'll let me know on Monday..................
With the actual date getting closer. I'm both relieved and jittery about the op relieved that I have an remedy in sight, jittery, becaise any major op. is a risk

Mixed feelings Dave. On the one hand it's good that the date has been set but still rather frightening. I'm sure it will all be fine and you'll be 3D printing and cutting plastic soon.

              Hi Dave

May I ask what form of cancer do you have? i ask because in 2020 just as we came out of lock-down, my wife was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had an op to remove the cancer ( and part of the large intestine), followed by 3 courses of chemo, 12 weeks in all. It was not as bad as we expected. The op was ok as was her recovery from it. Chemo is not nice - very tiring. Fortunately a couple of months ago she had the four year allclear which was a real relief.

a year or so later her brother also had bowel cancer, not sure if he was more or less fortunate in that he did not need chemo but has got a stoma bag. Something he got used to fairly quickly.

hang in there - the treatments available today can be really effective.

              Peter

OK, all systems go for Wed 9th, going in on Tuesday, as they want to monitor my sugar levels, apparently diabetes adds yet another problem.
One thing I've decided is to shave my beard off - I'm advised that masks etc need a good seal, and they will shave for that & not for looks!, So, I'm clearing the playing field before they start. Puzzling about what to take with me, not necessarly the big things, but little items like my Kindle charging lead.............

When My beard gets the chop I use a hair trimmer first. much easier.
Good luck with the op. Let us know how it went!
