    Advice wanted - painting G Scale/ 16mm Loco

I'm about to paint some brass sidetanks on my loco the tanks have a lot of raised rivet detail, also the finish will be satin rather than gloss so how to get a good smooth finish? Rubbing down between coats will remove paint from rivet heads and as it's a satin, can't really polish once it's done.

Hi Alan have you tryed using a non petroleum based rubbing compound such as Mr Hobby SF fine compound or 12000 grit sand cloth or try using some soft white stryrofome. Glenn
