I went to a model railway show on Saturday in Aldershot and came home with these two resin kits from Gramodels. A Ferret armoured car and a FV 432 APC, perfect for loading onto my MOD train of wagons or for the modeller or wargamer. They don’t have any instructions or decals. Both are OO scale so good for 1/72. The FV 432 can be posed with the doors and hatches open.
The postie brought me these figures today. From Preiser of Germany they are in 1/72 and German Luftwaffe but they are perfect for your RAF flightline diorama. I particularly like the figure with his hands in his pockets and ear defenders on the side of his head – very typical for RAF lineys! Also the figure bending down as if to hitch a tow arm to a tug/tractor.
Tomorrow I am expecting a delivery of a kit I have wanted to build since a child.
A relative of mine had built this back in the 50's and I was in awe of it. I wanted it for christmas, but my parents couldn't afford it, and my mother said I wouldn't be able to build it as it was a big boy's toy!
I realise it will need much alteration as it is old quality (actually a reissue), however it will have been worth the wait.
I will also have to find some room for when it is completed.
Now I must get my Boote completed, so I can get on with it.

Any ideas!

Got it as last,
I still felt like that little kid when I opened the packaging. That's what I enjoy about this hobby, not feeling that I have to be grown up. LOL
I have always wondered why it is that as we grow up, we are expected to stop doing the things that gave us pleasure in our childhood.
HWMBO decided I needed some additional parts for the build.
The difference is now (as adults), we have the skills, knowledge, life experience and (hopefully) patience to do these kits proper justice. I have learned things and have experimented with add ons and what not, things I learned today or were inspired to do so by coming to kit modelling websites. The idea fount is just non stop out here...
Although, with all due respect to the box image, I don't think I would want to be that close to a mushroom-cloud. The troops in the picture are like "meh, whatever".
I can almost hear the guy leaning out the truck window "We're going on a coffee run, sir, d'ya want anything?"

Having previously researched the mighty 'atom' cannon, you are not far from the truth with that comment.
It would seem the only time a LIVE atomic round was fired, personnel were sent into the explosion area to take readings etc., without any protective clothing & keep in mind that it only had a range of 30-35 miles anyway. The shell fired exploded above ground only 17 miles away!
No 'Health & Safety Gestapo' back then!
Being a very old kit, I know it has many glaring errors that as a child I never realised. Seeing it on my cousins mantelpiece was only what I was interested in when we visited.
I found a site on tinternet that had a guy built this many years ago, however when he had finished correcting all of the faults, he had produced an amazingly realistic representation of the original 'AC'.
I know I will never have the patience to build as well as his, however I am going to enjoy reliving the excitement of my childhood again!
To see my completed model on 'MY' mantelpiece will bring me more pleasure than you can imagine.
Well that is a kit that I have NEVER seen built and I really hope that you will do a build thread with loads of photos.Ian M
Apart from building an Airfix Sherman in the 60's, and a King Tiger for a local model shop display in the 70's, this will be my first military vehicle.
Just need to finish off my Schnellboote to make room for it as this is another LARGE kit!
