I have just taken delivery of this:

I will be building an aircraft involved in the 'Channel Dash' operation.

I live in Dover and that operation was recently commemorated with a new memorial on the seafront. It also has some personal significance as my grandfather was involved being based in Dover at the time on the Steam Gunboats, the Grey Seal, commanded by Lt Cmdr Peter Scott (son of Robert Falcon Scott of the Antarctic and later himself becoming well known as a conservationist).

Nice one Barry. I'll look forward to seeing that get the Barry treatment.

While on the subject. I folded. Gave in. moved to the slippery step at the top of the slope...

I have always said I will keep away from 1/32 aircraft but I was in the local plastic pushers and this jumped off the shelf and attacked me.

Very nice sales trick. He put it next to two from Tamiya. £116 £100 HobbyBoss £50 bit of a no brainer really. I already have a Zumbac Spit (1/48) so I'll be off on a decal hunt soon.

Ian. The Hobbyboss Spit is a nice kit but does not compare to the Tammy. Anyway, welcome to the dark side. now you are here you will be adding those Tammy 32 Spits, Mustangs and Zeros to your stash in no time...... !!!!

We'll see about that Barry. LOL I am aware that the HB kit is not as detail packed as the Tammy one, but from what I have read its fairly accurate and to me looks OK. Just thought it might make an interesting change. If I get bitten by the onethreetwoitis bug, I can assure you that the 'stang with have RAF paint. The Zero just ain't going to happen.

It seems to be that 1/32 is the new 1/48. It would seem that all the major players are popping more out in this scale and a few new names are doing nothing else but 1/32.

IMHO I cant figure out why they didn't go 1/35 and catch a lot more sales of people (like me) that hold back on a lot of things, due to the miss matched scale.

In 1/48 at least you have a reasonable selection of both figures and vehicles.

Ian, is there a noticeable difference between 1:32 and 1:35 scale figures? I suspect not much more than the differences in size we see in the High Street every Saturday.

The new Pacific Theatre Tammy 'Tang would make a good basis for a RAF aircraft as it has the props for both the IV and IVa..... I did a Mk IV myself from the original Tammy 'tang if you remember, with the Firewall camo scheme as a 112 Sq aircraft.

Not to worried about the figures, as you point out we are all different sizes. I was thinking more of the match up in say a 1/32 aircraft and 1/35 armour or the such. It would just make sense to me if like in 1/48 you could get 1/35 everything...

                  you know what I mean.

Thanks for the tip on the stang.

Picked up a few things in the past week, the Skyfall helicopter was £10.99 from Hobbycraft, the power supply and Kettenkraftrad will be for a dio I have planned with two FW 190's and the figure was because I wanted to make something different and see how it came out
