I'd wanted to model HMS Venus for some time as my father served on her.

    Cheers

Two things fell on my front door mat this afternoon, the first a 1/43rd kit of the Citroen 2CV by Heller. With the grooved bonnet design of 1938.....

The second was a resin kit sent from Oz on the 16th May and here in the UK on the 24th May, very good on economy shipping, it is the Uncertain 'T' for those like me who love daft cars!............

This was initially produced in kit form many moons ago by Monogram......

Not a kit but deffo model related:

Ordinary lead shot to use as nose weights for those tail sitter aircraft. About 2.5mm diameter so they should pack nicely into any space. They're less than £6 for 1 kilogram! Given most aircraft only need 20 - 50 grams, that comes to between 20 and 50 kits!

They're weights used by scuba divers and I got them from:

                  http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/scubaequipmentuk_1?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754

PS I daresay the older hands on here will already know about these, and maybe even a cheaper supplier, but I thought this post might be useful to newer modellers. How many would think to look for stuff from scuba diving shops?

PPS Should I have put this in the thread about unusual modelling materials? If so, could I please ask one of the mods to move it for me?

Some recent purchases. The V2 looks to be a great kit.

We all owe a vote of thanks to young John. It's guys like him that keep the model manufacturers in business - and the prices down for the rest of us! - with the amount of stuff he buys!

Tony and I missed out on that V2 kit from some guy in China who was supposedly selling them for about £15 inc. postage! I don't know what happened but his ebay account was closed and we never got to order them.

There are build reviews for both the V2 and the M40 on the 'Andy's Model Headquarters' site on Youtube and both look fabulous.

Tried a different car boot sale today as my regular local one as being sadly disappointing not only just on the model front but in all areas. Enjoyed a steady walk round and I brought the only two items model related that I saw. Only really got them for the glue and the brushes (weathering fodder) as I must now have a least twelve spitfires in 1/72 from various manufacturers. I really must do a scramble BOB diorama one day.

Just had to get this and for £25 I'd be a fool not too.
