Not exactly a big order but I want my Takom King Tiger to be special so I've ordered proper metal tracks for it!
I know I haven't got so many models under my belt yet but I'm not too fond of non-"working" tracks so far. Perhaps I haven't got the hang of it yet but I prefer tracks where the separate links are not glued in position. The ones I've done so far are "passable" but there are things I'm not happy with.
Anyhow, ordered some Friulmodel ATL-16 tracks and I hope it was the correct choice?
Luckily they can be removed if they don't fit for some reason. (I hope the drive sprockets are compatible. I've searched the interwebs and found vague information that ATL-16 should work with Takom King Tigers)
I've also searched for aftermarket 8,8 cm Pzgr.Patr.40/43 Kw.K.43 ammunition, and found really nice ones by Eureka XXL. Sadly it'll just be too expensive to do a full kitout, so I'll have to do my best with the included ammo+racks.
I've looked in my big box of old and odd rifle ammunition to see if I could find something that could pass for replacement ammunition but no such luck. That would've been really lucky though if it'd worked!
I'm not going to acid weather these track links I think. Just primer and Dark Tracks (Ammo of Mig) and then a light sanding to expose some bare metal on the contact surfaces. Subject to change obviously
