I have just been nosing around on a well respected British Modelling (I will say no more) forum and found a discussion regarding the new Airfix Mig15. Well, to be fair, two discussions. One is where loads of people are quoting what they have heard about the inaccuracy of this kit and the other, where a guy has posted a picture of his monitor with a side view of the said Mig15 and the kit fuselage half held up against it in an attempt to give the Airfix kit a bit of credibility as the shape looks good.
This brought down posts saying how the inaccuracy brought about by the perspective of the photo of the real thing negates it as a reference to disprove alleged variation from the real shape as depicted by the kit.
Fascinating; but the doom and gloom that the production of this quite nice looking kit by Airfix has wrought upon us modellers and conning us out of our hard earned cash if we bought such a travesty of inaccurate kits has shook the world.....
Can I say that if ever there is a thread opened and discussed to this length about alleged inaccuracy of a kit, I will resign from it.
I know that a few people on here frequent this other forum and may not take kindly to what I have said but this has to be the worst attempt at assassination of a kit by so many people who have never even bought it never mind built it that it makes my blood boil to see what damage a few armchair rivet counters can do to the reputation of a kit manufacturer based purely on hearsay.
OK, the kit may not be perfect, breaking news rivet counters, none of them are so find a new hobby.
My apologies, rant over.
