I don't know the exact low temps we've had here in Inverness but think it's been around -10.

Haven't had any snow to speak of for a week or two but it's still on the roads, pavements, etc, because it's not been warm enough to go away to any real degree.

I have to admit that I'm hoping it'll really snow over the next week or so here because I still have to build a snowman with my oldest boy. There's only about 3 - 4 cms in the garden just now.

When everywhere else was getting really bad snow 2 or 3 weeks ago we hardly got any and we usually get it worst!

He can have ours, we got loads. The island of Børnholm in the Baltic Sea is officially under a state of emergency. OK they did get a lot of snow and they are a bit cut off. Snow drifts of 4 -5 metres and some houses the snow and the roofs all run into one.

A snow drift with a chimney is a good way to find some of the farm houses! Some people there have been snowed in since the 21st and people that went home to Børnholm for the Christmas holiday spent christmas in a school hall with all the others!!!

Rather funny; some of them are saying its one of the better Christmases they have had in a long time!!!

Kind of makes the 40 - 50 cm we have here a bit insignificant.'

            hi all

we havent had any snow here to talk about for weeks we got like 1cm of snow on christmas eve and it was gone the next day. also the temperature has been around +5 degrees almost this whole winter, I wonder what went wrong in the weather system of the world it hasn´t snowed a real winter here since 1995 or something :smile10: I find ironic to live in a land called Iceland and it doesn´t snow anymore.

            but we have ash!! :nana:

So I guess you wont be surfing for a few days after that little mishap with the motor cycle chain. (touché).

Lets hope the weather don't get to cold over there, you wont be able to get a glove on!!! OK I'm sorry I will stop now.

Anyway I was close I was thinking Orange county. Not that close I know but its in the same country.....

The journey home...13km door to door. TWO BLOODY HOURS. The first ten of which was mostly in first gear with the odd bit of second gear thrown in. Two kilometers up the road and it was back to crawl stop crawl stop.

Yes the council has run out of road salt, yes there was snow on the roads and black ice where you least want it- bottom of a hill at the approach to a round-about- that was fun. The real problem was ever man and his dog "driving home for Christmas". They have forecast a snow storm tonight and every one has gone mad and taken tomorrow off and set off today. The last time I saw so many cars, I was in Birmingham visiting family in England, but they where moving!!

                    Rant over.

So how bad is the snow where you are. I have 40cm in the garden, and more on the way tonight.

Every winter we have a problem with people skidding on "Black Ice" ..................... I have a solution................

...............If they painted all the roads orange............... The black ice would show up so people could see it .............:smile1:
