Snow Day model making :)

Well Darlo got one days heavy snow and it's all melting now, and anyway a care assistant turns in for work what ever the weather. Can't put a dust sheet over a resident, I think they'd complain, and CQC would be very annoyed.:grinball1:Joke honest.

So modelling on days off only, as usual.

Grandson's school was shut so that idea was put on hold

We are in the 7 year cycle- My theory- Snow in Denmark is not a sure thing every year, but when it comes proper, it comes proper! We had serious snow last year, some places had over a meter. That closed a few places off. I missed the first work day, as it took me three hours to dige the car out. lol. By that time I was knackered! This year we got a good foot of snow which together with high winds did make some big drifts. but again, nothing that bad. We managed the run to work in the little Swift, (could not be chuffed to get the 4x4 out of the carport).

I recall as a lad walking the two miles to primary school in snow well over the knee and having monster snow ball fights in the park on the way home. Even those days snow ball fights where banned in the school grounds.

The snow is pretty bad here and certainly we cannot get out of the estate in a car. This morning at 11.30., our post lady pushed the mail through the door as usual. I take my hat off to all posties and post office workers. You do a great job for us all. We will moan loudly when a letter goes astray but we rarely appreciate you when things go well (normally). So thank you!Aidan

Snow, what snow?

This is a mere dusting, but the schools shut and the country goes to pot!

If you want to see a real winter here, go on you tube and type in winter 62/63. I started work in the October just before the freeze, which started Christmas Eve and stayed until March the following year! If you do look at the old film, take a look at the bloke on his motor bike going under the Suspension bridge on the frozen River Dee at Chester....That is my old school mate, he killed himself a year later when out on his bike.

When he was on his bike, I was in a warmish car, along with my mates, driving up and down the same river.....Now that's cold!

We've had about the same as you Adrian. It just annoys me that in the 21st century, we can't seems to be organised enough to deal with a dusting of white fluffy stuff !!

And yes, a big thank you to all the posties and others who don't get a choice as to if they bother to try and get to work or not.

Well, it's icing over nicely, lets see what tomorrow brings.....

I was told by the office to work from home today - on Friday I got into the office (I'm only 15 mins by car) as it was all clear first thing on Friday, but by 11am 4 inches or so had fallen so we all decided to go home - as did almost everyone else in the area i think as the roads were solid - took over an hour to get home. Once I'd put the car in the garage I went back out to the supermarket and was almost run off the pavement by a dickhead in a BMW holding a phone to his ear with one hand and steering one handed while driving in THIS WEATHER!!! If I could have caught up with him I'd have kicked the side of his car in, what a prat!

Well we had another downfall over night.

By 10am the council had been round with the plough/gritter twice (thats even on the side roads) and the little tractor had driven up and down the footpaths and cleared those in the village.

I think it's mainly down the the efficiency of the council "organisers" to what state the roads are maintained. We seem to have a more immediate hands-on approach up here, very different to when i lived in England where the roads would be quite bad throughout the day.

I cleared the car this morning and thought i'd go for a blat round for a bit of fun .... couldn't even get a drift on round the corners as the roads were just like it had rained a bit .... ah well .... Sainsburys in a bit - i'll see if the car parks been cleared

I didn't get any time off due to snow. In at the crack of dawn only to find I had no delivery of parts and the majority of customers didn't come and get their car fixed/serviced due to the weather. So all in all, a very unproductive day. Maybe I should have taken my modelling in? (Not that my boss would appreciate it)
