I don't get all philosophical about why I buy so many kits. For me, it's easy. I just love fondling plastic kits and dreaming about what they could look like if I had any talent.

I have to say my Stash sits at around the 220 ish, but in my defence...that does include figures and accessories  I`m starting to think that I am more of a hoarder than a modeller:music_whistling:

Colin's primitive hoarding principle seems valid I feel.

MATE! I wish I had those feelings of self worth when I finish a kit. My talents are still so limited that I realise that I've made a total pig's ear of it!!!! The building of the kit, especially the gluing together is very relaxing. However the final inspection is deeply frustrating. Seeing all your pictures of finished kits doesn't help me either.

Your work is of a high standard Aidan, definitely no worse than mine or some others here. In fact, taking another peek at some of your finished models, you are rather better than you give yourself credit for. Rather than comparing them to the more experienced and detailed modellers here, I like to look at my finished kits and take the satisfaction that each time (nearly) I have improved a little and enjoyed the build, or made something of an old kit that would otherwise be relegated to the bin by some others. I strive to do the best I can with what I have in the way of tools and knowledge and skill, something that will develop over time. Enjoy the hobby for what it is, I try to.

Many thanks for your kind words Joe but you must realise that you are dealing with a virgo here. Nit picking, perfectionist, totally untidy and miserable! I wonder if my refernce to astrology and 'horror'scopes will prompt any responses about said subject?

You are of course correct - most of my kits never get made public but there is pleasure in doing something better than last time. Can this be compared to nookie pudding? My wife says I'm superb in bed! She says I never snore, I never move. I just sleep!!!

Aidan ... Andrews right ...we all have a certain negativity towards out builds at some time, it's how the human mind strives to do better ... self critique etc.

Your posts show me that you're always willing to accept advice, hints and tips to improve your work ..... i for one would like to see more of your work ... there's nothing wrong with striving to be a perfectionist either.

as for me i'm great in bed too .... head hits the pillow ..... straight off to sleep

Took some pics of my stash today before I 'try' and arrange them into some sort of order (yeah good luck with that one I hear you say lol).

According to my spreadsheet 129 one of these will be completed this week three others are in wip. I've around another dozen that I've started but realisticely will never complete. My justification for the stash is that a particular kit may not always be available, as kits can go out of production or may not be imported for a decade or more the Hasegawa 1/72 Beaufighter being a good example. Thats why I've 6 1/48 Hasegawa Phantoms and 6 P-40's I will also buy when prices are low (two of those Phantoms I bought a couple of years ago for around£10 a piece, now they are on the high side of £40).Having said that I consider myself a mere amateur, knowing a few people who number there stash in the thousands. Andy I think you know which of our club members that I am referring too!

                              9000!! That's not a stash. That's a shop!!

Mine is very modest. I actually have reached the point where I build more than I buy....Sort of. Most of the stuff I buy gets build within the month. the rest of it is resin or other forms of upgrades/conversion sets.

I would say it's more of a warehouse full, around half his stash he stores in his loft.I can relate an amusing story.Having to have some work done to the roof of his house,he had to empt the loft.He hired a van and got a couple of friends to move the stash to were he works, ending up filling his office and two storage rooms. This had to be done without his wife knowing,he therefore arranged for her to go away for the weekend. After the work was completed it took him months to smuggle the kits back into the loft. There's more to this modelling than just assembling kits!

I just realised from your posting I am talking about another member who has a similar stash.
