Many of you make me feel better about my stash. I actually walked into a model shop when I was away on work yesterday and did not buy anything. Not even a paint pot. Geez Wayne, you better get building mate.

holy crap that is a collection and a room. Nice.
I have just finished the shed ready to begin model building in it. I have a heater on Frost protection inside and at the moment I don't keep paints in it as I'm not 100% about using them if they are cold as they won't warm up in the 10 mins it takes the shed to warm up to working temp in the winter. Although surely once mixed in small quantities they warm up and will be ok?
Not sure about the booth as well, thinking about making an attachment to feed air from outside through a filter into it as drawing air from the shed even when tidy and mostly dust free it still draws a bit of dust over the models.
Also all the lights are bright daylight led's which are excellent for painting and colour viewing

flyjoe & dougie,
This room and collection just sort of evolved over the last 15 years, it certainly did not start out like this. I have about 100 of those kits started or in one state of build or another. I would just get bored or I hit the wall on a kit and put it aside before I really screw it up. Sometimes, when I was working I had stretches where I wouldn't sit down for weeks and I would just put things away and when I had time I didn't always go back to the same kit. Then I realized I will never build all these kits and then it became something or a collector hobby sort of thing. I figured most of what I had and what I bought seemed to go up in value every year so why not use my collecting hobby as a defacto retirement account. I would rather look at my retirement account every day than have it in something that may or may not make money. So, it has served two purposes for me and recently I put a few kits up on eBay and I sold all but two out of 20 and made over $2000 in less than a month. I had to put the brakes on that or I would wind up selling off everything before I wanted to. Of course not all kits are worth the same amount but, I do have a pretty interesting collection of stuff.
dougie you have real nice start and over time you will make changes and improve the space as you see how things would work better a different way. I must have moved my paint bottles around 6 times; building racks and putting them here and there etc. It's just what works. I hope you get the heating thing worked out; I know how that is. I live up at over 6000' in the mountains by a ski resort and it has been real cold at times this year. A few times it was -15 and other than painting with a brush there was no spray painting going on for days. Right now I'm waiting for some warmer weather so I can paint this monster Pocher body. Can't do it in the house, too big and lacquer really smells the place up.Comment

Right, the man cave is finally finished off! It took the whole family to do it, but the AB booth is finally connected to the wall outlet and all is well.
The outside vent is a turn control so you can have it just a crack or more and when finished it screws closed, ideal for keeping pests out.
Closed.

Very cool space and all your own! I see you are in to dioramas; they are very well done and bring the models more to life. That is something I would like to do but, I don't think I have the talent for it.Comment
