Yes I have been using this other glue called Gators Glue. Little wonder that although still a good glue it did not have the magic properties that I read about sometime ago on here.
So for any one else it is called Gator Grip - Acrylic Hobby Glue. NOT Gator Glue the adhesive with bite. Amazing thing is that the labels on both bottles have a Crocodile. Very confusing.
I use Evostick contact glue a lot for all sorts of jobs, not just for modelling. (Not Evostick's version of Araldite epoxy resin). It is sticky and takes 10 minutes to dry.
A bit off topic but the Glue Laurie wrote about sounds like a polyurethane glue for chippies. I have used similar for wood working. Dampen the wood, put the glue on and clamp- the glue expands into all the nooks and crannies and locks everything solid. It is also impossible to wash off hands once dry. Sand paper works! LOL.
Yes as I have found out Ian that is the one. Hope no one has made the same error as I have given this name out on this forum not realising the name I had been given had a twin in the glue world..
But it is still part of my repertoire as it is a very useful glue for model makers. It can be used to glue most materials & without damage.
Used it for gap filling a couple of times. Just place just under approx 50% of the gap with this Gator Everbuild & it will expand into that gap. It is is extremely strong both in bond & in its self. The glue also has a certain elasticity ie the plastic will crack before the Gator.
Latest was the Lysander I have just completed. As said the long 9" wing fell off. I could not use poly cement or for that matter any other glue as I could not see into the wing end. Used Gator Ever. to expand around the new spars (which I had also glued into the fuselage) when threaded in place in to the wing. Worked perfectly.
Any way enough of that. Have found myself a pot of the "real stuff" & looking forward to trying it out soon. So on my shelf I will have Gator & Gator plus Gorilla.
