    Ian - a good pointer.

Do you realise that John stocks empty Vallejo bottles for mixing - I use them for pre-mixed oil paint washes (red top...)

they would do for Gunze too - brilliant suggestion, just not had enough empties to do the wash-out to accomodate them.

Those empty bottles are also excellent for decanting Tamiya paint as well

Never thought of reusing the Vallejo bottles. So obvious as well!.I can put my collection of thinned enamels in them.So much easier to use than the tinlets.

                  OK.

A bit off topic but I read that Humbrol are returning ALL their manufacturing back to the UK!!! Apparently there have been quality issues.... Really? It's what stopped me buying them...

interesting subject,.........had to go and have a count up

im actually quite shocked,......not by the amount of paint i have but by the amount of paint i have that i dont use!! ops:

                            revell aquas.....70

                            enamels (humbrol/revell) .....62

                            tamiya ......31

                            vallejo (of various persuasions).......33

                            automotive rattlecans......44

                            oils......24

waterbased acrylics meant for art stuff......38

                            other various bits n bobs......14

ive only recently started to use vallejo, and love it......until a few months ago i never had a shop selling it close by........used to use revell aquas for everything but not any more, just get used for brush painting. (the trick to airbrushing aquas, by the way, is to take a new pot, give it a good stir, almost fill up with clean water then stir well again.....thin the whole pot from the start and just topping it off gives about the right ratio......forget where i read that)

i havnt bought any enamels for about 6 years!, and these days i only use about 8 or 9 .....blacks and greys for washes, metallics like gold, silver, brass copper, etc.....the rest have just sat in the cupboard for years and years...bet 80% have never been opened

the waterbased art acrylics were some cheapo poster type paint i found in HobbyCraft, some really wild colours which was great when i was into custom car models.....took some experimenting but found i could airbrush them.....but again, not used any of them for at least 4 years!!

the oils i bought as a box set cos it was cheaper than buying just the 5 i wanted for pin washes on tanks.....so the others are never going to get used lol lol
