And as PCM kits go it is a pretty straight forward job to build it too.

They lied, for what reason I don't know, but maybe another shop, even if further away, would be a better recipient of your money. Parts were all test shots, and you can expect any marks to be polished out before the mould is finally put into production. Presumably they've seen the reviews of the latest kits, which all mentioned the "very gappy and usual poor fit," because I haven't. We had a shop, here in High Wycombe whose staff treated non-R/C customers with utter contempt (even turning their backs and carrying on a private conversation); it lasted less than two years.

As for the reason there has never been a 1/32nd Airfix kit, 1/72 = 1"(inch) to 6 feet, 1/48 = 1" to 4 feet, and 1/24 = 1" to 2 feet, so it's a natural progression; 1/32 is a railway scale, Gauge 1, so slightly out of synch with U.K. model aircraft scales, but it's rather ironic that Hornby are known for their model railways. We old *****, who were around in the 70s, can remember that the conversation was always about what would be Airfix's next 1/24 kit, always in time for Christmas.

Injection moulds are made in a tool shop and the first tool is always a bit rough , then kinks are ironed out for the final production moulds are always better quality

            I fully agree with this.

I build 1/32 so have not done much Airfix except 2 years ago when I first got back into then hobby when I did some practice on two of their new tool 1/48 kits and, I have to say, these were excellent and almost Tammy quality.

I had a close look at the Typhoon and it certainly looks a great kit. Ignore the negative comments about it, they are worthless and at best ill-informed. Though I do 1/32 this Typhoon is very likely to get me back to doing an Airfix build.

Zoukei mura had a Horten jet on display that was obviously a dvelopement model as it had a rough sand cast like finish. But you know from the quality of their production kits that the finished article will be superb.

I still think that Airfix have missed a trick in not producing kits in 1/32 scale regardless of the maths behind it. Unfortunately producing one super scale kit is not going to make me buy Airfix models in the future.

I'm still hope Airfix will one day produce some British WW2 bombers in 1/48

ONE super-scale kit? If you check, you'll find that, ignoring conversions into other Marks, this is Airfix's 8th 1/24 kit, with quality improving with each successive issue. Thankfully enough modellers (thousands of them) didn't share this distaste, when the Mosquito appeared, ensuring its monetary success for Hornby, and giving them the confidence to continue with what started as an experiment. And, if they had decided to produce the Typhoon in 1/32, I'm prepared to bet that, within 24 hours, some "expert" would have been expounding, loud and long, how he "had it on good authority" that Hornby had simply copied the MDC kit.

There may have been other super scale kits but they were of by today's standards very poor. Only the more recent Hurricane tooling was worth purchasing. I for one would have bought it had it been in 32nd scale and why would it have been compared to the MDC kit?

When I took up modelling again I was dead against airfix from my memories from a kid but they have changed , me and my youngest are building the new tool spitfire 1/72 scale and it's much better than the old tool ( well if I can get him off his play station we might Finnish it ) and has already said isn't part of the fun getting a bit of flash or parts that don't fit properly all part of the enjoyment ? I built the Memphis belle from revell and it was an awfull kit but looking at it now I'm really glad I stuck with it and it does look good even though I it's not perfect , remember paint covers a lot of faults

Thanks for the "heads up" Al, but actually I am ahead on that one.

I am pretty much obsessed with the Unholy Trinity. I already have them in 1/48th and since Mrs Oggy did a runner and things don't break any more I was considering getting them in 1/6 (RC kit) although my eyesight means I can no longer fly.
