    Missing posts...

    Hi all,

Is it just me or have Si's (Eddiesolo) posts gone missing, not just in here but through most of the forum, I can't even send him a message to find out what has happened...

    Andy...

I'm afraid I know nothing gents, maybe John knows a bit more. I'll have a look around and see if I can see anything obvious.

It looks like Ian has given him a warning for something or another yesterday so I suspect this might have something to do with it. I'm sure more will come to light today.

I think someone had complained about some of his posts, and from what I see last night he'd kinda took it badly and he may have left us...shame!!!

            Cheers, Andrew

Si was asked to try and cut down on the off topic chatter in threads after some members notified admin that their threads were being taken over by him and other people. He took it badly and has decided to leave.

I asked him to stay but he is his own free spirit

                Guilty as charged

I wrote to him and asked that he could get a handle on the chit chat and irrelevant posts on the forum as several of the members have commented on them.

He apparently has taken this in a bad way ad has chosen to throw his rattle out of the pram and delete all the threads he has started.

His posts in other threads are there still for you all to enjoy.

I to am sorry to see him go and enjoyed his builds.

He has also been told this and still chose to leave.

                  bugger

i liked Si, always seemed a fun person to have around and the place will be a poorer place without him

honestly didnt realise 'chit chat' was frowned upon, to me thats normal and what forums are all about, apologies if i have been guilty of it

Paul. Chit chat is ok in moderation. But there were one or two threads where the original topic was totally lost and then 3/4 of the remaining thread was taken up by 'chatter'.

When people start complaining to admins about their threads being taken over by chit chat then we are obliged to ask the concerning person to calm it down a little. it appears that Si wasn't able to accept that and has left.

At the end of the day it is up to the OP (original poster) to say whether their thread has served it's purpose etc etc. As admins we can always lock it to stop further comments being added. But i for one don't want to go down that route as i want this forum to remain a friendly helpful place where we can come to chill and talk about our hobby.

I think we've lost something from the forum today ! Simon didn't think of this forum as just a bunch of people talking about models he saw like a community where everyone got on and he saw people as friends than just posters

Simon is a good guy and if he did get carried away it was due to the friendly nature of this forum.

Maybe if the posters who reported him had thought about talking to him personally this all could of been avoided

I couldn't agree with you more Sir, I think it's a huge shame and to be honest it has soured this forum a bit for me now and no longer seems to be the happy place I thought it was...

It would be nice if those who reported him would come forward and tell us why they did it, as I don't want to "upset" them by posting anything on their threads...

I liked Simon as a person, shared a few decent PMs with him... Unfortunately there is an unwritten etiquette regarding forum use to which was crossed.

I personally do not want to start reading about a "sherman tank" build and wade through a dozen posts where the theme digressed to what sweets people ate when they were young (this is a "for instance")

We're all guilty in one way or another but there is a limit as to how many threads can be affected and it got monotonous in my opinion.

I moaned about it, as did a few others, PMs were exchanged on the matter between members and eventually administration were contacted, they were aware of the situation and were in fact going to have a word.

This is how it's ended, shame about him not being able to take a little criticism, I'll miss his build threads too as he tended to think "outside the box" on stuff.

He'll be reading this no doubt so I'll just wish him well for the future.

I don't usually make comments on 'Political' issues, but this really sucks.

Whilst I can see both sides of this, why couldn't whoever was cheesed off with the banter send Si a message and chat it through instead of involving the admin.?

Also, to post publicly that he 'threw his rattle out of his pram' is quite unneccessary. The poor bloke's feelings have been seriously hurt and the last thing he needs is to read such childish comments!

I've always regarded this forum as one friendly place to be a part of and have regarded the chat and banter as a great part of this site....So it strays from the thread a bit, it always comes back to the topic......is that so bad that a warning has to be issued?

I feel really bad about this, Si had enought to put up with his 'disabilities' and saw this forum as a way to forget them for a while and chat with his 'Cyber mates' Now he is gone, and he must be well fed up and it's Christmas!!!!

I'm as guilty as him for having the crack during both mine and other builds and it's a shame such chat is now frowned on. This thread and the content has certainly rocked me on my heals and has made me sit back and think.......

So no more chat from me, just serious intent.........

Mate I know what you meen , I've been on forums along time and I have seen this happen on everyone of them and it's always the good guy that ends up the victim.

I think everyone should be aware that not everyone has a large group of friends and there life is a happy one , there are a lot of lonely people out there that come on places like this to share a common hobby , let's face it most people have hobbies that there friends don't and show no interest in but places like this give us all the chance to admire and discuss their hobby and you will make friends and friends talk about other things not just their hobby
