    getting started

Hello all, I've not viisted the site in nearly a week now, just how many posts do think there were over the past six days? 841 not read! Now that the stocktake is over and done with I might even get cracking this weekend. Looking forward to getting settled down with the tinlets and paint brushes. Now I know mine will be the laughing stock but it'll be done for your inspection amd constructive comments

    cheers

    Jim

            Hi folks,

I came back from a busness trip to Bratislava a couple of days ago. Couldn't resist spending my last morning there seeing what the model shops had to offer. Did a little internet research beforehand and tracked down a couple of shops in the cente of town. Due to time contratints I had time to visit only one.

Actually most of it was Revell, but they had a decent selection of some Russian and Czech kits. I ended up buying a cheapo ICM Spitfire IX for the group build (item 48077: markings for E. Horbaczewski) and the Eduard Profipack P-39Q Aerocobra, which looks just great! I'm pretty sure the latter was a bargain at the equivalent of £11.00.

Started on the Spitfire last night, putting a couple of engine parts together. I hope in a week or two I might be able to unpack the airbrush and compressor for the first time!

            Regards

            Maxidad

sounds awesome mate. I aint been able to get near mine properly yet. Damn tanks taking up too much time.

You must of had fun tho mooching around a model shop in a foreign land.

And it was a bargain, they £20 over here.

Yeh, the only drawback was that it was all behind counter - so you had to point to what you wanted to look at, instead of that nice relaxed mooching-around you can do in British shops.

Next month I'm off to Prague for a day or two, and the selection of hobby shops should be better. One of the customers in Bratislava told me that there is a triangular city block in Prague created by an intersection of three roads, known as modellers' paradise cos there are model shops on all three sides of the block: can't wait!

LOL....well somebody steped on mine crushing all of the PE stuff and most of the cockpit so ive had to start again from scratch which was more than annoying but going to do a very simple desert look now i think!

I think nigel and char are still doing theirs too!

                              Woe

Hi guys and gals, mine is still firmly ensconced in the box waiting for a little bit of clutter to be removed from the work bench. Trouble is it is sailing time for the boats and the necessary upkeep of them. Definitely will be built though

                              cheers
