Hey RJ, well done on the Spit. Looks great. I am dying to get going on this project but last week we moved house, which is a mammoth project, especially as there's a helluva lot of DIY to do. I just don't know when I'll be able to get going on this. I am also itching to try out my airbrush for the first time.

Ho hum, maybe in about another two weeks I'll find a breathing space.

Modelling is not a destination but a journey to perfection and we all are constantly learning along the way.

I always admire and appreciate anyone who takes the time and patience to put together a model for the sheer satisfaction of doing it and showing it to admirers. It is something that i have loved doing all my life and i would always encourage others to do the same.

Your Spit looks superb and reminds me of why I love the shape of this particular aircraft so much. I am now looking forward to seeing how others compare.

Don't forget it is a very brave person who shows his cards first as everyone else then knows what to beat!!!

PINK paint is lyeing in wait!!!!!!!!!! ONEWING asures me that some Spit's were indeed pink, and flown by ladies (and strange men that like lipstick)

well done richard that is brilliant i wish i could that good. At the moment i am building my spit but cant do any airbrushing because of the extrension lead has broke and cant be fixed until the old man can do it. which will be a long time with his new store.

There were indeed reconaissance Spits painted pink. I don't know if they were Mark I's but what the hell, I just want to see yours done in pink anyway!!

Certain cloud and light conditions render the aircraft invisible, whatever the colour. The pink was toned down a bit with a little light grey or white. as the aircraft were used more and more ,the pink became a sandy colour.

***Richard W,High altitude aircraft were mostly painted Cerulean blue ( sometimes spelled Coerulean ),the colour varied in hue depending on how high the aircraft was operating at,the pink Spitfires ( and some other types used for that work including Westland Welkin ) was a short lived experiment to see if the colour blended in with the clouds and sky,the truth is that any colour when judged from a distance looks black ! this is why after years of experiments painting trainers yellow,silver,dayglo the R.A.F are painting all of their trainers,yes 'Black' ! this has also been adopted by the Royal Netherlands Air Force as well.

So it is a problem that has been faced over the years, which just happened to include a shade of pink to try and get the results needed in service.

dip the clear part in, let it drain off, cover it to stop dust getting on and leave it to cure over night?

***Thats the stuff,dip,drain,cover with a lid,sit on plastic sheet to dry overnight,stick canopy on with the same stuff,you have a lifetimes supply there.
