Many thanks for you posts of concern and support, they are greatly appreciated.
The police finally arrived on Thursday night, but commented that although they may have an idea who is responsible.
Proving it is another matter.
But we have been invited to attend a local walk in 'Advice on security meeting' next week.
I contacted the council about the individual upstairs, quoting the tenancy agreement regards security of the block. And the fact he is the person responsible for the lack of security leaving the doors open all hours of day and night.
Reminding them that I have provided them on numerous occasions, with the diary sheets they asked for, as evidence of his actions.
The response was that they have written to him several times, pointing out he is breaking his tenancy agreement with his actions. I asked why they haven't followed up, as we have still the same problem regardless of their correspondence with him.
To be told 'It's not that easy' !!!!!!!
On informing them I intended to fit a spring closer to the doors, and drop latched that would automatically lock on the door closing, I was threatened with action by the council if I did install these items as. Quote "We have provided adequate security for the property, no more will be permitted" Un-quote.
Informing them he was already leaving the doors open again, only days after the theft, they said we would have to start keeping diary sheets again.
Needless to say it was then I lost it.
I was then informed that a representative would call us on Monday. I won't hold my breath on that one.
I had informed the post man that the door would be permanently locked, and he would have to come around to the opposite side of the building (rear entrance) where the council had ( in their wisdom) fitted the door bells & tradesman 'security' entrance button.
Unfortunately this side of the building doesn't have a pavement or footpath, only a road leading up to the property.
Apparently Post Office 'H&S' regs won't allow the postman to deliver to any property that doesn't have a footpath or pavement leading to the property being delivered to. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Britain ha! Nothing great about it anymore it's been brought to its knees. The cities and towns are now the worst places to live I will be leaving my place of birth (B"ham ) ASAP already looking at places to escape to after slowly watching my neighbourhood go down the pan . I hate this dog eat dog world I'm living in what happened to respect honour empathy manners to mention a few of the values that have now disappeared .To all those who served their country you have my greatest respect but as Lee said for what . I worked for HMS prison services for a number of years and have 1st hand knowledge of many prisons in and around the uk and as already been said it's like butlins holiday camp with many repeat offenders after a nice place to live and sleep with 3 meals a day. Would love to bring back my great grandfather and see is reaction to GB now . I'm really sorry Gregg about your mothers situation and hope your problems are sorted very soon .This island we all live on is not going to get any better but feel it's going to get a lot worse as time goes by I'm so glad I was born in the 1960s and have a few memories of what a decent place this used to be I fear for my great grandchildren have to stop here as a could go on and on .................................................. .....
I'm a brumy too john and I have seen it degrade into a cesspool , I now live in Devon and it's much the same as when I was growing up , respect still means something but more and more I see it changing , liberal fascists seem to be like a cancer and are spreading sadly to say
Thanks Alan I see you did the wise thing by moving to a better place . I can't wait to move sooner the better !!! Gregg your poor response from the council is of no surprise unfortunately the police are just as bad it's a shame that one lowlife is allowed to spoil the place that you live .my place of birth and my home for the last 49 years as now become unbearable and I have now totally given up so looking to move away to a better place if there is such a thing in Great Britain . Really hope someone somewhere with a small degree of common sense helps you soon as I have had problems myself with these lowlife and I know how frustrating it can be

bring back the stake is what I say, rock ferry is the same although there are many good people living here the majority seems to be low lives who have come from prison and dumped in bail hostels and druggies and drunks who by the way are issued disabled travel passes by the council and are dumped here by the social services not to mention the layabouts who don't want to work. I say find a nice little corner of Siberia or the arctic and put the lot of them there and leave them.
