I'd be inclined to keep the tabs at the top where the pylon mates against the wing and also keep or scratch build a replacement set of pads for the bottom where the stores attach. I think it might depend on what store is being carried, a quick google search for "boz pod pylon" brings up a variety of different fittings.

I never worked on tonkas but occasionally we'd get a Nimrod with a boz/chaff pod still fitted into the hangar and I distinctly remember these steadies on the pylon. I haven't seen an example on a tonka but the gaps between the pylon and wing were sealed with speed tape on nimrods.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

I did a quick search and the top tabs should remain but the bottom tabs could be removed going by the pictures in the links below.

              Jason.
I spent 7 years as a crew chief on a Saudi Tornado squadron. The pylons didn't have sway braces.Instead there was a mechanism built into the pylon that tightened the crutches if the store moved.Im assuming the RAF ones were the same .So I would cut off the sway braces.

Further to Daves comments, I stumbled across this post on Britmodeller, the sway braces aren't present on RAF machines.
