Some were blue, I checked for my mosquito and that was one red, one blue.

The American planes tended to use blue my P40 and Dauntless do but saying that my P47 has green.

Thanks for the explanation of the AK pigments. It's something I'll have to look into further.

The preshading has worked really well on the underside, it looks very nice.

I'm not saying blue is wrong, just that I have never seen blue bulbs used for starboard navigation or position lights before. Coloured bulbs were used inside a clear cover, that much I know.

Top camo now done. Looks a bit odd without the invasion stripes!! Yellow I.d. marks and Sky band next. Miracle masks work well but were hard to burnish down around the detail. Little bleed through though for which the slightly thicker AKI paint helped. She is starting to look 'the business'.

Wow Barry some fantastic pre-shading and the camo is looking very realistic.

Paint work looks really good.Ive not got the hang of that faded paint look myself.I know the theory but can't seem to do it.Will have another go on my 1/24 Spitfire.Might be easier on something bigger than my usual 1/48.

I remember the surviving Typhoon as having what were once clear covers over coloured lamps. The covers have degraded to a rather unpleasant yellowish colour over the last seventy odd years. I last saw the aircraft years ago, I'm not even sure if it's still on display, but it certainly left an impression

Lovely paint work, looking really good!

                    Cheers

A quick pic as I have just finished the yellow id stripes and sky band. The Sky is from the AKI RAF WW2 camo set and yellow band Vallejo MA Ochre. Next up I get into the invasion stripes Monday night.

I just ordered this one, couldn't resist! Do you think aftermarket parts are necessary for this kit Barry?

                              Hi Leo

I would not say they are essential, it really is a matter of what approach you prefer. There is always room to add detail of course.
