Thanks for the kind posts guys, appreciated.:thumb2: Jim, absolutly if you ever get a chance to book a flight on a Dakota or any other radial engined plane go for it. The sound of the props alone is superb.:smiling:
Work sapped the energy during the week and yesterday I was working too to earn some extra cash for the next day out, so the promised photo's of the Dakota will appear later.
Made a good start at the decals though after the fuselage woodwork, only used AK 123 with a sponge and big flat brush afterwards to minimize the wood grain:

Due to the gloss finish little can be seen on the pic for now but its there.:tongue-out3:
More lozenge decals:

I'm using Micro Set and Sol on mine and they snuggle in neatly even with all the rib detail on the wings.:smiling4:
Still a couple to go and then its on to the rib decals and the markings...
Hope to have more done later in the week as I have Wednesday till Friday off for some concert and modeling time.:smiling:
Thanks for looking in and have a great week everyone.
Fernando
Pete, thanks the decals are a pain in those numbers but with some good Irish punk-rock to listen to one forgets how much there are.:tongue-out3:
After a couple of evenings of decal work they're all on now:

Even though the Micro Set and Sol let the decals conform nicely to the wings, I still had a couple of wrinkles but its the first lozenge next time better.:smiling:
Had a good shot at the rigging too today, just needs a touch of paint to finish that step.
Used Ushi van de rosten fine wire and Albion alloys 1/48 turnbuckles for the rigging:

Just a prop, wheels and a touch of weathering to add and she's finished.
Thanks for looking in and have a great weekend everyone.
looking forward to the D VII For some obscure reason I have one in the little museum down the road from me here in Quebec. I think it's one of the only all original versions still left.
Tim, thanks:thumb2: the Ushi stuff is really forgiving to use just patience and steady hands required.:tongue-out3: John, found out yesterday that our air force museum has a post-war DVII in the collection, always thought it was a Koolhoven plane:upside::rolling:.
Is yours the one in Knowlton?
Well after painting the rigging VJ Steel, a light brown wash here and there and giving it all a coat of VJ satin I'm calling her done:

In all a fine kit by Eduard, parts fit pretty good just make sure to test fit and remove any paint on the joints.
The decals are very nice too, not too thin and will conform to most of the surfaces with some help, if I'm building this one again I'll sand down the ribs so the decals will settle down easier.
Very pleased how my first attempt at lozenge turned out, on to the next one but first there's still a rotary wing thingy on the bench that needs completion...:smiling:
Thanks for looking in and as always all comments etc are welcome.
Fernando
Fernando,
very nice! I agree with you about sanding the ribs down - they prevent you from moving the decals around, being too sharp on the top - not that I'm likely to be taking on another lozenge camouflage aircraft!
I have, I admit, a Roden 1/72 Gotha GV, it has lozenge decals on the wings AND the fuselage, it sits in my stash - in the pile marked ' You must be joking!', along with a part finished Roden 1/72 Felixstowe F2A, that I had to put away to preserve what is left of my sanity!
Dave
Sorry for the late reply guys but many thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.:thumb2:
Maybe I have some time to start on the D.VII in the coming week.
