Ahhh the old pyro whatsit were old enough to remember Historex kits ,Max thingy Ray Lamb always on the cover of MM ,horses mains ,tails ,saddle sheep skins ,bear skins, shako plumes all in 54mm and that strange white plastic..?.....Comment

Steve - I will need the real thing for the big tigger when I eventually get around to it
Jim - it works quite well up to 35th scale
Rick - the pyrogravure was a purpose made tool not a wood burner
John - not hot enough for you as it melts not burns
David - oh yes, they were all the rage back in the dayComment
-
Still think the pyrogravure does the best zimm.Mine got a bent tip and went missing years ago but still miss those many hours better spent in the pub.Same model too.

Hi Jon - still a useful tool. Nearest thing today is the Rai-Ro from Germany - has a variable temperature range which is better as it should be adjustable to take account of different plastics hardness
this turned up today from McKeeman Models who specialise in small scale stuff so I shall be attempting a double Sturm build - comes pre-zimmed and with link and length tracks
No internals and hatches are moulded shut
This one will end up abandoned at the side of the road as per the commonly seen photos
For the 35th one I have bought the Tamiya maintenance and ammo loading crews from SMS - the maintenance set provides a basic engine :thumb2:Comment

Exactly Jakko - there is no comma or full stop there. That is only half the sentence. I know Steve did it for comic effect and appreciate that
Steve - :smiling5: Here goes then
the 72nd one is complete rubbish.
It says on the instruction sheet that it is a limited production run kit which just seems to give them an excuse for producing expensive crap!
£18 gets you:
thick roof of the superstructure that is concave - it may be possible to push it back out with the help of boiling water but I suspect it will be tricky to get it evenly flat. Replacement may be the only option
link and length tracks made from old style non-glueable vinyl so pretty pointless
engine deck is hopeless - must be about the worst ever attempt at a Tiger engine deck. Even the vintage Airfix 1/76 is better
rear plate fitted with Feifel air cleaners
none of the large conical rivets anywhere
gun barrel - oh dear
wheels may be passable but don't look like they will fit the extremely short fat stub axles
generally lacking in details

The comma is optional, and though it would clarify the sentence, it doesn’t change the meaning
I’ve got the Dragon one with a metal hull and superstructure. Though I didn’t check its detail (I built it as a wargames model, and my standards for that are a lot lower than for a display model), it seems to suffer from far fewer problems than the one you’ve got.Comment
