    Right, another bash

This time thinned the wash a bit more and did not load the brush too much, again used cotton bud with turps, to me looks a bit better.

Hopefully shows wear and tear around the heavy AA guns and crane but no wear under the ship boats cradles???

      Hi Bob
Definitely better. I think the deck would not have been too dark. It would be bleached by salt water and regular scrubbing by the crew.

        Hi Jim

Thought so, but very hard to get info about how to stain the wood deck correctly, Lifecolor do a set of liquid pigments and some say to use pigments as well but what colour and method??

I have bought a cheap wooden deck, which i will stick to plastic card, varnish and then use to experiment with

          Hi Bob
Could you use actual wood stain? Ok you couldn't varnish it first 'cause the stain needs to soak in. THIS is water based and they do tester pots. Might be worth a go  Being water based you could perhaps dilute it with water for a lighter effect.

Progressing nicely bob, this is just a thought and I have no experience of wooden decks whatsoever but if it gets a bit to wet in one go is there a possibility of it warping when drying out? Like I say just a thought.

Been very busy sorting out Julies dad s funeral, and still loads to do, the house looks like a florist!!

But this morning finished the decks

Did not experiment on this as i do not want the main decks to look different to the other decks

As my first go at wooden decks, i think it looks ok BUT too dark. I do like the tonal variation though.

Thats why i have bought the practice deck, so next time should look more real

I know less about ships than I do planes.... But regardless I really like it. Very well done indeed.
