Thanks guys.
With the detail set arriving I've moved back onto the cockpit. Most of the parts require the existing relief detail to be removed, so much careful scraping and sanding has been done.
For those that haven't used Quinta 3d decals they are soaked off the backing paper like regular decals, but additional glue is recommended. I generally use white glue, formula 560, or sometimes CA for very small parts.
Here is a before & after of the radio set, and a shot of the finished IP

Of course it would have been much easier if I'd done that before assembly & paint but that's the perils of changing ones mind :tears-of-joy: Thankfully only a few touch ups were needed.Comment

Where’s the fun in that LOL. They certainly lift the area. Far better than the etch type.Comment

Thanks all. I can't take any credit for the quinta stuff, and it almost feels like cheating, but it really has made a difference.
After applying the decals I buttoned up the cockpit, spotting a few areas that needed a touch up once it was together.
Once I had dealt with the couple of issues I slotted it into the fuselage. It was a very tight fit, especially around some of the AM parts, but it eventually went in with that satisfying Tamiya click.
Then the fuselage was closed up, hiding some of that detail forever :smiling5:
I've put a bit of sprue goo along some of the joints as security, but they went together very nicely.

That cockpit looks superb. The decals are no more cheating than using decals for markings in my opinion, by the way.Comment
