They look very good to me. They will certainly fit so well within the completed model.

Cheers Jim.
I’m pleased to report that the paint has yet to be chosen for the decorating so I have been able to get to the bench and make a start on the third batch of disembarking GI’s.
So here they all are in their ’Frankenstein’ state on my 3D-printed base mock-up ,which saves me from damaging the actual model whilst I tweak and reposition them . Apart from the two at the gangway directing traffic the others will not necessarily be placed as they are positioned in these shots.
Having set up the poses I will now work on them in pairs this time to keep my concentration levels high and hopefully avoid too much sloppiness.
Thanks to you all for sticking with this.
Neil

Neil,
I wish I had your skills to modify figures. Every time I try they look like they have fallen in a threshing machine, caught fire then beaten out with a shovel.😂 3Comment

Thanks everyone for the positive comments and encouragement.
GI no1 of this batch is ready for paint.
The torso I used didn’t have the life-preserver so I made one from lead foil and a 3D-printed nozzle.
I have made several before as litter in the Landing Craft but this is the first time I have tried to incorporate one into one of the figures.
There’s as yet no decision on the lounge paint colours so I think I might have a chance to paint this guy before getting on with the next one.
Thanks for following

Many thanks Jim and Paul
Well, I made it!
GI no 1 is painted, and I’m a lot happier with the result. I think I will just have to stick with doing them one at a time from now on.
I was chatting to my daughter, who is a painter of portraits, about flesh colours and she suggested underpainting in GREEN, and given my last , lacklustre efforts I thought I would try it- what could possibly go wrong...?
He looks like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now!🤣🤪
The first pass was not encouraging
😱😱😱
Neither was the second, or third, or fourth.... In the end I just went with a block colour, although I probably should have stripped it back because there was a bit too much of a paint build-up by the end - note the wart on his lower lip- but I sorted that.
But it’s passable, for an ‘extra’
Although, as I say, I am actually happy with this one, especially as he’s a bit more visible in the composition.
The rank chevrons are a decal from Archer, who are back in business, thank goodness!
Thanks again for following along.
We still don’t have a paint chosen for the lounge, so it looks like I can crack on with GI no 2 of this batch.
Cheers
Neil

At least he looks like the martin sheen charectar and not marlon brandos
As i remember he was so overweight and out of condition thats why you only see him in shadow or from clever angles in that moviePer Ardua
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been😂 1Comment

Looking good mate, I must admit green would have been the last colour I would have thought of to undercoat flesh.🤢 1Comment
