Heres my entry for this GB , the Italeri 1/72 FIAT br20 Cicogna . I wanted to find something a bit unusual so got this . Its a lovely looking kit , quite an old tooling but very nicely done with raised lines and rivets galore . The detail isnt bad at all , a simple cockpit but not much will be seen through the closed canopies anyway. There's quite a lot of canopy / turret / window masking to do and the paint job is going to test the airbrush skills to the limit ! None of the three decal options falls in the right place or time to count for this GB but ive got some decals coming in the post and with a bit of fettling should be able to model a machine that was involved in the bombing of Harwich in late 1940.

Had a good go at this today , got quite a bit done. The interior is basic ( it is after all a 1972 tooling!) but little will be seen through the canopy and windows anyway . I added some representations of the quirky italian seat harmesses with painted tape . The fuselage halves have now been glued . The instructions would have you fit the top turret before gluing the fuselage together but with a little surgery I can fit this after painting .

Got the fuselage glued together and had to decide what I was going to do to try and preserve the multitude of raised rivets . I put tape either side of the seam and sanded as little an area as I could . Once the seam was smooth I removed the tape and used the riveter to restore the rivet lines. Ok , the riveter leaves recessed rivets and the kit is raised but the recessed rivets still have a bit of a raised profile . I slapped on a rough coat of grey to see how it was and it looks fine . The grey was then removed with IPA and hopefully once the primer goes on it will be good. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 4 photos.4 Photos👍 2Comment

Been cracking along with this in the background . Once the fuselage was together it was time to look at fitting the nose section . This is supplied in two halves on the clear sprue and has a round ,ball type machine gun attachment which is meant to be trapped between the two halves. Apart from looking a bit 1970s ‘moving parts’ style it was very inaccurate . The box art and photos of actual aircraft show it to be a domed fixed glazing with a gun at the bottom edge. First off I tried crash moulding a replacement using the kit ball but this didnt succeed so I ended up raiding the spares box and found a suitable bit of transparency to chop up and fit in . It looks tons better than the original and is now masked up along with the rest of the nose and canopy.

This being a 1970s tooling some areas leave a lot to be desired , namely the wheel wells or lack of ! The wing top and bottom halves just go together - theres nothing to stop seeing into the wings and up to the back of the engine. I boxed in the wells using plastic card , basic and nothing like the complicated structure of the actual aircraft but better than nothing. This done I got the wings together , engines in , cowling fronts on and got the whole airframe together. After spraying the canopies with interior grey green the whole thing has had a coat of grey primer.
