Things are moving along ...

I added some brown in areas of natural shadow & where some emphasis might be useful

I'll probably lose it all during the painting stages! Ho hum!

Then I laid down the basecoat of Tamiya dark yellow, trying to allow the pre-shading to show through

Next will be a coat of a sand yellow, in the centre of the panels & highlighting the raised features.

    Thanks for looking

    Patrick

      Hi Patrick

Great work with the paint shading. This looks like it's going to be a cracking Tiger model. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

      Cheers

Nice job mate. A bit true about it disappearing although there is a little there. Perhaps a post shade? Next time, use a darker colour, such as black, tire black or smoke. The reason why it disappeared, is because the colour brown and the main colour are very similar.

                      Thanks peeps!

John, personally I don't like black under yellow - often it looks green! But a darker brown would have worked better had I any

                      But onwards & upwards ...

I went over the dark yellow with a lighter shade ( Xtracolor DAK sand) to further add contrast. If you notice a slightly patchy look, that's intentional as I feel this adds to the realism.

And then followed that with some camo squiggles. This is done with Tamiya olive drab. The other colour will be Tamiya red-brown.

Both colours will have a slightly lighter shade over them. It's possibly a long-winded process, but I think the results will be worth it.

                      Thanks for looking

Very nice indeed. I'd have been really tempted to stop after the dak sand shade if it were mine as it looks totally awesome in my opinion but I'm sure it will look equally as good with the camo squiggly bits on by the time you've finished with it Patrick. I have a Tiger 1 in the stash with no zimmerit and this is making me want to go and rip the lid off. Great work very inspiring look forward to more. Cheers John

If it was an Afrika Korps Tiger I might have done that, but it needs camo for the Normandy theater.

Once you've finished your 109 Trop, drag that big kitty out John!
