In case anybody wonders why I use an aluminium strip? It's being metal that's critical - the glue that seeps through the links doesn't stick to the ally! I have tried oiled wood strip, but eventually track links are welded to the wood - rather annoying!

Welcome Ron, long time since I've seen you on here. Hope your well. Don't offer any to the front two rows please, we need to keep them calm.

                Evening John,

Well it’s very pleasing to see you build this as it’s one I like the look of, wouldn’t mind grabbing one myself!

I see the rabble have amassed so I brought some lemon drizzle to keep them calm and rock cakes to chuck at the trouble makers :smiling5:

Great start on the engine…..look forward to seeing more :thumb2:

                              Hi John
That engine is looking nice. A few wires and pipes and a good weathering with muck and oil and it will be perfect. As for tiny bits of PE  I reckon they are only there to drive us demented. Maybe a Steve or a Mike would stand a chance of getting them fixed correctly but for most of us it is simply a waste of time!

                                John,
give the plastic bits a try - just think of the cost of the Fruils!! It's not a long model, there aren't that many links per side.

Just think of assembling link & length tracks! - only the length parts are created by yourself!
Give it a try, there's nothing to lose!!
