1/35 MINI-ART Ya - 12 SOVIET ARTILLERY TRACTOR. 35052
Being in a flat now I do miss having a garden, some lovely flowers you got going on there :thumb2:
Tractors coming on nicely as well John, good luck with the tracks and yes a poor effort from minicraft really, I would love to build tanks but tracks are what put me off! In this day and age you would think manufacturers could come up with something quick ,cheap and effective without a problem.
Hi Mark, thank you for your kind coments on the garden, appreciated.
The tracks are slightly different from the one you show, the pins are moulded into the plastic, (I'll put a photo up later.) I've now cut off all the pins and just gluing. Again I'll put up a photo later.

You probably had a peaceful evening then, still no rain here.

Great work John that engine looks a treat. If you are going to make the tracks link and length I would use Revell Contacta cement as it gives a bit of time to fiddle bits about.
Andy.
Cheers Andy. I've got some Contacta and some VMS slow, was going to use that when I get to the bends .

Keep up the good work John, it looks like you're making a good job of it. The engine is very nice, I'm sure you will beat the tracks.
Graeme thanks,it's a lot better now I'm running a very small file to take those pins off.

As I said earlier have a new method of doing the tracks, just file off the pins, now they are just like normal link and length, stick or die !
The load bed is no more ! The outer sections didn't line up, I'd studied the instructions and followed as I thought was correct, out some where so scrapped the plastic completely. Started to build again using coffee stirrers and some styrene u channel. So far I've glued the bed up, using paper as a backing sheet and have glued the internal sides part way. When dry I'll CA the U channel on.
Photo up date later today.
Progress on the load bed . but first for Mark, a few photos of those tracks.
Assembly as .
Well it doesn't work , they just fall apart.
You can see how small the locating pins is.
Those metal bars I bought about the same time as Jim did I think have been invaluable.
I recently bought a Tamiya 2mm chisel, perfect for the waste removal after the saw cut.
Rear seats.
Sides and base.
To make the base I'd cut a section of computer paper just to act as a retaining sheet. Gluing the boards on to it .
Drying now is the rear section that buts up to the cab.tomorrow I intend to glue it and strengthen up that base.
Thanks for following.
Comments, abuse all welcome.
very nice work there as it dose just give a whole different look to it as well,
good luck with theses tracks just hope the pins are in good shape will make it easyer
I see what you mean with the tracks now John the theory was good but not the reality!
Nice job with the woodwork. :thumb2:
Thanks Mark. Agree totally with you on the tracks.

That's exactly what had crossed my mind Dave. I can see hope for this yet.
Coming to the conclusion that my limitations on kit building certain sections can result in only one thing. Damage.
Yes, the scene is now set. Industrial buildings, fitters working on the repair.
Engine fully exposed, with the back having suffered Fire Damage !

Hi John
Love how the engine has turned out. The tracks look like a nightmare. Your sanity, or what's left of it, is in real danger putting those links together. Load bed is progressing well - working in wood is your forte.

Count me in. accelerant and ignition sources at the ready........ Will cut the phone lines to make sure the for brigade can't be called......
John,
have you felt your antipathy to MiniArt coming to a peak? I had a look at the MiniArt T-55a in the stash, and all the feelings of despair came flooding back - all those sprues, all those tracks & pins.....................
