Great work Chris. Hull looks fantastic in its war paint.
Just out of interest, have you thought about Lion (lithium ion) batteries rather than lead acid? You might find a direct replacement for the large lead acid one is actually lighter than the two smaller lead acid ones you are planning to use.

AN HI Tim yes the paint scheme has come up nice an thats due to the clear laquer i have sprayed her with 4 coats an its strong an water proff an it stops the paint bein chipped an this is really meant for cars but it will do my ship just the same an regards your idea Tim an its a very good idea one i had'nt thought of many thanks

BUT there is a BUT comin an regards the Lion (lithium ion) batteries if they are lighter then no good im afraid as you see this hull is so bouyant that its gonna take quite a bit of wheight to make her sit down in the water as near to the black water line as possible an thats where the sealed lead acid batts come in to there own as they are fairly heavy they will not only be a power source but also ballast if you see what i mean

AS i have a freind who built a small aircraft carrier at 5 ft long an its only sits in the water about an inch deep as he has put in light lipo batts an im afraid its no good as the carrier rolls about terrible in a little wind as with ships even real ones the ship must have keel depth
OR they may capsize
cheers for your idea Tim
thanks

Think the paint work is brill Chris, that red on the hull looks very clean and smooth. I like the warning on the battery's saying beware of FIRE & EXPLOSION ! LOL.

HI John thanks yes paint work has come up reasonable but once it gets sailing the water will soon wheather the hull to a flat finish an the shine will be gone an the
beware of FIRE & EXPLOSION ! LOL. yes John this is right up your street isnt it lol
but im glad it wont happen in tiger as its all to do with heat if i say left the batt in my car on a hot sunny day it could do that but i carry the batts in a specil metal case that keeps the batts cool ATB

Chris,
I always enjoy catching up on this great build. It's not just the great modelling skills but the thoughtful and knowledgeable engineering that goes into it. Keep up the great work.

AN HI Scottie glad you are ejoyin the build an yea Scottie ive now got to get the ole thinkin cap on an try an work out how all the things will work that i want to work only hope i have enough room in her hull as ive just bought 10 micro servos to work some things for only 13 quid so they work out at only just over a quid each as in a model shop they are at least a fiver each so i got a good deal on them im pleased to say as this R/C can be quite exspensive any way hope all you guys keep watchin as it helps my mojo no end as i dont want to lose it lol

AN HI Moni again nice to see you on here an hope that you like what you see an yes the paint work has come up reasonable but thats the clear laquer ive sprayed the hull with as it is used on cars but in this case its on tiger to help with the water proffin an she has had 4 coats on her an yes got to be very carefull of these batterys as i dont take any chances as if it is a hot day when she will be sailing the water will cool the hull inteior so no heat build up on the batterys but when i take her out of the pond an she is on the stand for public veiwing i have my cars hatchback up to keep the ship an batt cool so no problems in 30 odd yrs of sailing
THANKS Moni for lookin in an hope you will again sometime ATB

HI guys another small update on whats happening on the build an ive had a major problem on the 4 motors now as im up to that point of getting the motors back in an goin BUT when i bought the motors over a yr ago i dint check them to see if everthing was ok ( exspensive mistake ) an ive now found that when id fitted in the motors an run them up to a fair speed about 2000 rpm ive found that the motors drive sharfts are too short an the universal jiont fitted with an allen grub screw wont hold on the shaft an viberates off so ive had to take them out an went to my local model shop an bought 4 more motors an these ones have a good long drive sharft an they are bigger an more powerfull an below a pic of them together an the small johnson motor the small drive sharft can be seen i dont know what the manufacter was thinkin when they made these as they ought to have known that the drive shaft is too short but well we live an learnClick image for larger version
