HI Ian im usein a carsons R/C T/X an yes it says in the instruckition booklet that it has dual rates but one problem im not good on understanding instructions as i forget qiuckly what ive read so to set it at 50 to 60 % i cant do but my mate richard will come over soon an he is good on things like that BUT MANY THANKS Ian for reminding me on that as i have had this R/C for 2yrs now but never thought about settin that YOU COULD BE ONTO SOMETHING THERE WHAT WILL HELP GREATLY

but an yes there is a BUT if i get rich to set it at that so no more power than that THERE MAYBE A STRONG WIND an i will need more power to combat the wind
as on my other 40 meg R/C its just got a lever to throw from 100% down to 50% an that is great for me nice an easy but to set up my new carsons its alot more complex for me to understand but i will ask richard to show me how to do it an see if there is a way to go quickly up to 100% power if i need it
YES Ian YOUVE GIVEN ME A NEW IDEA ON THAT MANY THANKS SIR will exsplore it soon

I remember years ago they used to make metal U/J's, I suppose like everything else they went nylon/plastic for cheapness.

AN YES mike thats the way but they still do them metal ones but no good to me as they have a allen scrub screw fitted in them to attache to the prop shaft but mu shafts have a thread on so no go

Looks great on the water Chris and you must be pleased with the result even allowing for the propshaft problem. With regard to the propshafts, do the motors have threaded drive shafts? If not perhaps it may be possible to thread the shafts and the joints so that they screw together and are held with nuts. I may be talking out my **** here but it is just a thought.

                    Andy.

                      Andy.
HI Andy now the motors drive shafts are smooth an no thread an the U/J just slides on an does up with a small allen scrub screw an really i should have ground a little bit off flat on the motor shaft but so far they are not slippin an where the thread is on the prop shafts as thats the reason i cant use metal U/J

as they have allen scrub srews on the motor end an on the prop shaft end so its no good as i dont want to damage the thread on the prop shaft if you see what i mean an yes when the prop shaft fitted into the U/J then it locks up with a lock nut so it cant come undone but i think the reason this happened is due to the heat heatin up the plastic U/J

an then the amount of tourge on the prop shaft from tryin to turn the big prop WITH WATER LOAD ON IT so the weakest link in the system which is the PLASTIC NYLON U/J JUST GAVE AWAY AN THE METAL PINS JUST CAME OUT an then a U/S prop an a bloomin another prob for me an lookin closely at the prop shaft it has slipped down the outer tube from the motor vibrations so im now in a while goin upstairs to have a look at fixin it but im goin to have to remove the big bronce prop an then keep a nut on the thread an then use a bit of wood layin it on the prop shaft an just gently tap it up the outer tube back to its orginele postion so i can rejion it up to the new U/J an the tighten it all up an yes Andy im pleased with Tiger but not the U/J failure as ive never had this prob before so a new prob to me an it may be the makers fault not makin it strong enough OH DEAR here i go again lol
an glad you like her on the water as i was pleased to see her go off like a shot so some probs fixed an another has arisin wonder what next will rear its ugly head Arrrccccccc

The full size dogs as well , very richly deserved . The voyage was a great success, a few minor problems , but that's life in a real test run .

HI John many thanks for the full size dogs dodass im very pleased on this cheers sir an yes a few probs again but enough to stop tiger from sailin which was most annoyin but it could not be fixed up at the pond so had to bring her home to the dockyard for more rework but that blasted heat was what got me was it as hot where you were ?

as it was 31C an talk about a scorcher an yes will tell on here when i know about vid but i may not be online then as tomorrow ive got to take p/c up to hughes shop to have new norton security fitted on an if they cant do it due to the fact its all in the red my p/c may have to be sent away but when it comes back i'll try to get back on here if poss as they will wipe all my stuff off to clean up my p/c so fingers crossed i can just get it fitted an bring it home as its workin fairly well at the moment
                          ATB TO YOU BOTH

Was quite unbearable yesterday pm Chris, too hot and sweaty for me these days .
Stayed in the front of the house where it's cooler .
Must have been unpleasant for you lugging that build around .
Will wait for you to post when your up graded.

Looks like failure under load to me, rather than a heat issue Chris. Could you perhaps get a mate to thread the end of a replacement metal UJ that would be going on the prop shaft? You would have the same arrangement then.

YOU could be right Tim as them big props under water load take some turning so well Tim i will ask around if anybody can do it for me but im not goin to buy them before i can find someone so these plastic ones will have to do for now cheers Tim for your thoughts on the subject
